RAMROD's Build thread - Dodge Charger

I'm impressed with the NVX 6x9 2-ways... The Factory Speakers would just disappear and be over powered by the front. I could fade off of them and couldn't tell a difference. No so with these. Just driving 30min to work was nice experience. I like having the Rear tweeters.

Ok some Pictures...Stayed up till 5am working on it.

Fixed the Trunk light from ever rattling..

The New Trunk Speaker wire running across the back instead of just hanging like Dodge had it.

I'm thinking of when I get my ToolMaker Terminals. I will cut and Frame a Window in the Floor to show off His work. A little LED back light would look slick.

All Finished and starting to clean up..

Man.. I know its a little more work for you, like a couple hours.worth..But Id recommend sealing off those 6x9s,like building a cap for them to seal them up from the bass response/air movement that the sub is going to create. They will last longer and perform as they should if sealed off.The air movement from the sub is going to make those 6x9s move more out of norm/maybe too much and could damage them.I ruined a nice pair of JBLs that way in a Maxima with a dual 10" set up.I just bought some cheap 6x9 boxes and cut the face out and placed L brackets to secure to the deck and sealed with silicone.Went through 2 sets of 6x9s before I figured out what the hell was gong on..LOL That was back in the early 90s.Just something to think about from my experience,as I hate to see you possibly ruin your 6x9s, and excessive movement/cancellations/sound performance issues from the sub woofers response/movement /excessive air movement. They will perform/sound ALOT better sealed off as well, but the main thing, is to protect them, is from what I have experienced.

I was wondering about that issue... And I have been thinking of doing something like that. I'm just wondering since I'm porting through the rear Deck how much pressure is really in the trunk now?

I like having rear speakers as most like front stage only, and subs from the rear. Its nice as to be able to create a surround sound affect if you dont have Time Alignment,HU.It doesnt take much..5.25 2 ways with caps off HU power works just fine.Really makes a difference in my opinion.

I got that effect tonight. That's why I stated I liked having those rear tweeters. Was listening to some rock and the surround sound effect of the highs really shined. Never got that before. I don't think I would have noticed much different if I didn't go with the 2-ways.

I don't have a ton of room to make boxes... The Sub box goes right up to the bottom of that Cross member under the rear deck. Maybe 2in clearance maybe less. Haven't measured with these in yet.

Its still going to be quite a bit,and will still create enough that over a period of time, that those 6x9s will eventually get ruined.May take 3 months/6/even a year if you cant really hear them unless you turn the sub stage to Zero to actually hear them.I think the first time I realized it was approx within 3 month period. On Master Of Puppets, I heard a blown bass response first time, second time I found one my 6x9s shifted. Its cheap to do/seal them off..A pair of carpeted 6x9 boxes are like 20-30 bucks,L brackets 2 bucks and silicone/ seal off.

You can really tell the difference with a surround sound affect on a song like Simple Man fro Shinedown

Think it would kill any kind of Mid Bass from them? Or does it even matter from the Rear. That Passenger rear 6x9 won't have much room at all once the Port is in place.

With that much clearance left..You might get buy with some Foam baffles enough to keep them out of the clear??But you can always cit the wood 6x9 boxes down to fit to actually seal them off

Would installing the Rear Deck Panel under it help? I would still need to cut a hole for the Port.. Think it might deflect enough pressure? I could put some closed cell foam around the hole of the port to kind of seal it off better.

Best pictures I have right now.

With Panel...

You can frame up yourself out of 1/4-1/2" plywood, and carpet easily, just to clear the magnets. With that 4480.1 and that sub..You are going to have a Chit load of air movement. That amp is a little badd azz, with alot of power, and should bang the snott out of that sub,and that trunk is going to be filled with alot of air pressure looking for an escape other than the port involved,so more than likely your rear speakers are going to receive some beat downs..lol
