Problem! Box I got from Vitveet

Just my $.02: You get what you pay for holds true when buying a custom box. I can't understand people that spend big money on amp and subs and then don't want to spend much for the MOST important part of the system. Now your case is a little different. I give all my customers a satisfaction guarantee. If for any reasonable reason they are not happy with their box, I will build another one. Of course, one of my boxes for 5.5 cubes would cost twice the price you paid. I would also not have taken on that build. Trying to cram 5.5cf in your trunk is a terrible idea when your having the box shipped to you. I say fail on both your parts. You for expecting so much for so little. Bigger fail on his part for taking on that box for too cheap to do a good job and then sending you a halfa$$ed box.

If he cares at all about his rep as a box builder he should send you a new box no matter how much money he's out. It's his own fault for quoting too low a price.

x2, this is not the first thread where his quality has been questioned. Remember the dual ID8 box with the uneven corners and how he painted where glue was going to be on a joint?

Depends how it lands, but a normal sized enclosure should have no trouble staying in tact. The only thing that should fail is the MDF itself, tearing off at the glue joints, since the glue is strong than the MDF. I've thrown some of my smaller boxes off a roof with nothing more than some chipped edges as a result.
I remember that. My box is still holding up fine and still looks great and sounds great to boot.

This is likely a fluke......Vitveet does great work MOST of the time....i still got enclosures getting use from a year ago that i got from him.....pretty sure you guys can work something out. Also Gorilla wood glue FTW!

If the OP is a noob on car audio why would it be part his fault?

I don't think the OP is a noob. He said he's built boxes himself in the past, but does not live somewhere he can do it now. And he also stated he was lured by the low prices of the builder. I'm all for saving some dough, but not when it comes to paying someone a fair price for a quality service. If someone is promising you quality work but their price point is way lower then the competition, they are either going to take short cuts on their work or they are too inexperienced to correctly price their work. Being cheaper does not mean better and smart shoppers know this, whatever it is they are buying. Don't get me wrong, I place 98% of the blame on the builder, but the buyer still needs to realize making a bad decision and hopefully learn from it.

Thanks for backing up my point, that is why I went ahead and fixed the box on my own because I used to build boxes myself, but it sucks to pay for a box and find out the box dimensions are off and then the back wall comes apart and then the center hole was cut to big and the only solution he gave me was either send the box back or pay for another one! come on what type of service is that

why would you even try it in the first place if the sub doesnt even fit in the hole? why would you put it in your car if its too wide? why not get ahold of vitveet before you use a box you are unhappy with?

Because after a couple minutes of trying the fit the box in i got it in against the trunk hinges because it was .5 inch off but I was like ok nothing to major, and when installing the middle sub i noticed the whole was slightly to big because the top portion on the screws with straight in with out hitting any wood, so I tried to even it out and screws the screws in at an angle but that failed as well, Im not usually a person who complains about minor stuff but this box has been a disaster

just //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif, don't complaing about it sounding bad because you're trying to fit 3 type r's in 5.5 cubes which is slightly over enough for 2.
