Just my $.02: You get what you pay for holds true when buying a custom box. I can't understand people that spend big money on amp and subs and then don't want to spend much for the MOST important part of the system. Now your case is a little different. I give all my customers a satisfaction guarantee. If for any reasonable reason they are not happy with their box, I will build another one. Of course, one of my boxes for 5.5 cubes would cost twice the price you paid. I would also not have taken on that build. Trying to cram 5.5cf in your trunk is a terrible idea when your having the box shipped to you. I say fail on both your parts. You for expecting so much for so little. Bigger fail on his part for taking on that box for too cheap to do a good job and then sending you a halfa$$ed box. If he cares at all about his rep as a box builder he should send you a new box no matter how much money he's out. It's his own fault for quoting too low a price.
