Problem! Box I got from Vitveet

I could see those hinges causing issues on the glue joint for the back wall. You cant blame him for your sub falling in that long after you used the box, if the hole was too big, you wouldnt noticed. If the screws didnt bite then you shouldve known that the minute they went in.

How could the hinges effect the bottom? Its not the top that came loose...and even if it were the hinges its because the box is .25-.5inch longer than the dimensions..... and when i put the middle sub in I noticed the the top screw when straight in without hitting any wood so I tried to angle it and even out the balance so all the screws would go threw the wood

Thought you said it was the back wall of the box.

I have to disagree with some of you here. He, as a box builder should know how to properly put together an enclosure without it falling apart. You spent your hard earned money on this enclosure to have it fall apart? That's messed up. Regardless of whether or not he used screws or not, an enclosure should not EVER come apart... and you having to squeeze the box in the trunk or whatever will have no effect on the glue joint coming lose... You can drop a properly made enclosure from the top of a one story house and it should still be perfectly intact. Bottom line, you should get your money back, or get another one made and this isn't the first problem i'v heard about his enclosures. This is why I offer lifetime warranty on all of my enclosures, but, over the 100's i'v built for customers, ZERO of them have ever come apart. His craftsmanship just isnt on par if the enclosure back wall just comes off. That's just my opinion.

I would love to see this.

Just re glue together, as for the sub holes you shouldn't have to angle the screws to get a good hold. The opening is to large and with the force of them moving and pressure they would have broke free. Maybe see about getting a top plate to re mount the subs?

I had a box with 2 typr r's break top board from face plate because it wasn't reinforced and flexed itself free.

exactly! the box didnt come loose at the corners it came in the middle where the back and bottom meet, and even if the hin ges caused this it was because the box was .5 inch longer than the given dimensions!

of course, there was a bit of exaggeration in my statement. But point is, when you have a 2 joint glued together, you cannot pull them apart with breaking the wood itself. it's just called poor craftsmanship from him.

and come to think about it, i might have one laying around where I can take a video of. I'm pretty sure my statement would still hold true anyway.

OP -- get your money back

Now, im not defending vitveet, but it seems suspect that the box came apart a week later, are you telling me you didnt bang on the subs for a week ?

x2, this is not the first thread where his quality has been questioned. Remember the dual ID8 box with the uneven corners and how he painted where glue was going to be on a joint?

Depends how it lands, but a normal sized enclosure should have no trouble staying in tact. The only thing that should fail is the MDF itself, tearing off at the glue joints, since the glue is strong than the MDF. I've thrown some of my smaller boxes off a roof with nothing more than some chipped edges as a result.

Either way you both should have figured out a solution to the problem (in private) before you installed and used his product. At the moment you installed the subs to the box you took 100% acceptance in the work he did.
