***** to hear this, had two boxes from him in the past, but have since given them both away and built my own.

Definitely bad craftsmanship, you couldn't do that to one of my own boxes or any well glued box even if you tried. The joints of Titebond II are stronger than MDF.

I would suggest you get a whole new box. A properly made box will be much better and reliable than trying to fix that POS.

How long have you had the box? Ive had mine for a year now and no issues like people predicted I would have.
