Silverado DDZ build

I took more time with this side and I think it turned out pretty good.

Eventually, I'll wrap em' in black felt

What's murphys phone number? Make an ad on Craigslist saying free washer and dryer must get out of house now and put a picture of a very nice washer and dryer and put murphys phone number. His phone be blowing up for days non stop! Haha

I would rather have the motors and cones than subpar softs and come out missing a cone...
I have the motors and one cone right now. He's going to ship the other cone with the drop ins when they're done.

I paid him back when I was getting them done as 12's with Ti baskets and the composite cones. He already has the money and can't refund it because his paypal is at a negative balance. Either I get the recones, or I get nothing. What would you choose?

No, I don't want to be unprofessional.

What's unprofessional is screwing over tons of customers

I wouldn't have dealt with him in the first place. Not saying I told you so but... If I remember correctly in one of your threads I advised you to get the DD recones and stay away from getting recones elsewhere.

I've seen 4 Z's get recones that weren't from DD. They all either had to be re-reconed by DD or had subpar performance compared to DD parts.

I don't really have a choice right now.
Getting recones is better than getting absolutely nothing
So what, DD doesn't make parts for these anymore? Seriously, this is one of the many reasons we told you to stick with the OEM parts.

IF Tantric ever sends you anything, sell it to the next sucker and buy the correct parts for those DD motors.

I doubt anybody recommended using anything besides OEM parts for those motors.

DD still has parts to recone any Z. My two Z's are the gen before these and I can still get recones (although I have to swap to the new baskets since they use different spiders). And the price surprisingly isn't too bad other than the composite cone which is $300.

What other Z's have you seen not reconed by DD? Who did the recones?

They do make parts for them, but I wanted ti baskets that had more clearance. I hate the new DD baskets and was planning to invert the subs in my car as 12's. Dd would not build them with Ti baskets. DD themselves said the old 12 spoke claw baskets didn't let those motors reach their full potential.

How many people do you know that are looking for second generation DD 99Z 18" drop ins?

Literally nobody.

LOL @ full potential. The guys doing 180's with them aren't having troubles yet you're going to somehow break them using the standard DD frame that's been setting world records for a decade.

NOBODY is looking for DD-Z recones that aren't made by DD but they'd possibly fit something else and you can get something out of them.

Really you should probably just trade those motors for something that is better designed to play 20hz sine waves. DD-Z is not the correct platform to do that with no matter what magical softparts someone is telling you will make them do it.

Also I don't think you are anywhere near needing composite cones. That's for guys that are like high 160's and 170's that shred pulp cones.

You cannot recover a sunk cost. Just write off your loss as an expensive lesson and order the proper parts from DD.

I don't know why you're so concerned about this.

DD themselves said it does not allow full travel in the motor. Guys aren't doing 180 DB with them under 30hz. They play them higher than that.

I am not getting 18" composite cones for them.

Please explain why the base is not good for lows. You're completely talking out your ass about that. The motor platform is not bad for lows in any way. The stock Z softparts are very stiff and have a high resonant frequency. Most people use them for SPL purposes and aren't concerned with the lows. There is literally nothing that makes the motor bad for low end response. That is the dumbest thing you have ever said
