Playing audio through AUX jack 2020 Silverado

I’ve got a vhf handheld radio with an AUX jack for headphones. I’d like to play the audio through the speakers in my 2020 Silverado. However, none of my USB ports recognize my vhf radio as a device. Is there anyway to make this possible without Bluetooth?

For just listening, maybe an FM modulator, make sure it has a line input to plug into and somewhere to plug it in for power.

I say "just listening" because, if you transmit on the VHF radio, you may get terrible interference and or feedback in the audio / stereo lines, not sure.

I've used a couple FM modulators, had one that was terrible and had a whine in it, very light whine but got annoying, but they worked when I had old cars with no way to connect a phone to the stereo.

I’m mainly using it for scanning and I’ve seen these but, I’m not sure it will work and I don’t know anyone who’d be much help. Does my truck require reprogramming afterwards? I’ll check out the FM modulator. Can you recommend one? What’s your thoughts on my linked device?

I do not have any recommendations for any brands / models, been a while since I've used those.

That part you linked looks like a better way to go if you can get it to work. Not sure if it needs programmed or if plug and play. Also not sure if the connector is there for it or if the head unit can be set to AUX in if it doesn’t have it from factory, so wouldn't do any good to install it, then find out you can not select AUX on the stereo. Might be a good idea to check inside the console or dash to see if you have the connector for that, and perhaps ask on some Chevy truck forums if anyone has done that upgrade or if it is possible.

I still drive 25 to 35 year old vehicles, so very little experience with modern stereo stuff other than it looks like a headache, hopefully others will chime in if they have any info on it or ideas.

As a last resort, an FM modulator should work for listening if it is decent enough and has the correct line input, but also may take some research.

Awesome! Thank you guys for the info! Seemed like there’d be a better way to communicate with the vehicle but, an oldie but a goodie will work!

And yeah maybe sign up to a Chevy forum and see if anyone has any deeper information on adding to the OEM system. There may be a a better method such as an OEM AUX port, but take a bit of time waiting for a response. At any rate, hope you get something working.
