HT Sub

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif No mystery, really... just Chris (mandos) @ eD
I had it in a shitty prefab up until a week ago that was tuned really high for ht and had even less port area (around 9^2 in) and it sounded fine to me. No 20hz rumble, but sounded good with music and my xbox.

I would post the t/s specs, but I'd like to keep my dignity. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The response curve looks horrendous, and it's about the worst sub I caould use for ht, but I have to wait until I can switch it out. I chose the size and tuning however, so that it'll work with the replacement. Probably a rl-p or tc-2/3000.
take pics of how the sub is hooked up to the amp. i read the directions on buttkickers website, but i'm still not catchin it:confused:

Now I'm confused...

Sub is dual 2, so I wire in parallel for a 4 ohm load.

Sorry no pics, but the sub's chilling in my garage atm.

Finally got my roundover bit today. Then found a 1/2" collet router at Harbor Freight for 40 bucks, so I got it.

And holy crap that was a lot of sawdust. I needed the respirator; the dust mask just wasn't going to make it.

Now I can finally start sanding... this one's gonna need a lot of bondo.

Decided against veneer because of the fear of the poly cracking on the corners, plus veneer is expensive, so I went with the melamine facing that Partsexpress sells. I got it in today; doesn't look that bad... it'll match the rest of my particleboard furniture. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And if I grow to hate it I can just tear it off down the road. Hopefully.

But then I open the box, and notice two very prominent cracks every foot or so, one staright and another round. The box has a cutout to show the pattern underneath, so I'm guessing it got stepped on. I called PE and they're gonna send out another (sweet), and I get to just throw away (keep) the other one. I may use it for some smaller low-budget home audio projects.

At least they're pictures. Everyone loves pictures.

tc 10" oem sweet!!

more pix of the sub or finished product now or else! lol
12 actually... I really like the paper cone. I'm a sucker for plain woofers.

I'm still working on the box... I have to figure out where I want the seam for the melamine to be. I was going to have it on the back w/ the port... but since the whole Buttkicker power issues came up, I'm not sure if I want to add a plate amp into the box eventually... in which case I'd have to turn it around to have the port face out, and I don't really want a seam visible...
