Gain Setting Tutorial

so this process is basicly giving the speakers the amount of juice, without overpowering them or underpower them to prevent them from clipping or premature failure??

is this correct I look forward to doing this soon.

ok I got the voltage to around 58.3 volts.

I turned on all the options I like on the headunit. With all the options on it would be the voltage below.

And adjusted

the gain to about 56-58volts max on 50hz test tone.

Is this how it suppose to be setup. I did this a max output of the Volume of the Headunit. I did some expermient I reached aroud 70volts playing around with the gains.

I think my two idmax 12" d2 took a shit.

its making a poping noise at high volumes. Its still loud.

these are brand new woofers what can have caused his problem.

These should have handle 1000 watts the Orion is 1700watts @2ohms.

So I know I didn't **** it up anyone have any ideas...

Ok guys, I guess I just dont enderstand this...

I figured my sqrt for my amps at:

42.4 for a BX1800D-1800x1@1ohm

13.4 for a Falcon----90x2@4ohms

what do I do with this info?

Ok the new guy needs a little help please. See sig for my equipment. I’m trying to set my gain per the instruction above. My amp is bridged to one channel and the (2) subs are 175 rms x 2 (#subs) x 2 ohms sqrt= 26.46 volts is my math right? However, I can't get below 73 volts at max volume with a -8 volume offset and lowest gain. This is the lowest my gains have been in the 2 years I have had this set up. I must be doing something wrong. I have a craftsman DMM set at 200 Vac that checks out ok on a wall outlet. Any ideas here? Thanks.

Never mind. When I set my Sub output to 0 not +15, everything worked right.

Ok guys I need some help here can anyone tell me how to set my gains right I have a 4 channel amp wich is 40 rms x 4...

2-5.25 for front doors

2-6x9 rears

my amp is a 301x punch amp 4 channel my deck is a pioneer deh-p3500 where do I set the volume at ? it goes up to 62 ......... please let me know or guide me trouhgt the correct road thanks.......

thank for replying ok so ur sayin in my multimeter AC it should appear 12.65 volts for for both gains ? please correct me if I'm wrong and where do I set volume at it goes to 62 I will turn off eq's and bass boost also I dont use this anyways...

Measure the output of the amplifier with the AC Voltage setting on the DMM. Turn the gain up until it reaches 12.65V. Turn on all bass boosts, etc that you will use when setting the gain so that there is no possibility of clipping.

Yup.

It is best to set the gain how you listen to the system, not with all boosts, etc off (unless of course if that is how you listen to it). This is because once you turn all the boosts to what you like to listen to them at after you set the gain, you will drive your amp into clipping.
