Do I really need to buy an oscilloscope or put money in douche meade's pocket to set the gains of a bridged 4ch powering two s4 subs?
Using the multimeter works fine. I set my own gear by ear and have great results, but that is because only I have access to my gear. Here is the formula for setting with multimeter. The watts in the formula will be what you wish each speaker to receive.Do I really need to buy an oscilloscope or put money in douche meade's pocket to set the gains of a bridged 4ch powering two s4 subs?

It's more a matching outputs problem than setting them.I set gains by ear. If you use a test tone, it's pretty easy to hear the test tone start to clip. The pitch of the test tone will start to increase (to a higher frequency). When you hear the change dial it back ~2-3db.
I was thinking about buying one of these or find an old museum piece locally but I think I'll shop for another amp instead of having another tool that I'll barely use.
