its cheaper and says it puts out 1000 watts at 2 ohm even though i know the kicker's birth sheets are usually around 930. will this amp be better than the kicker though? i'd be running it on an sa-12 with 4 gauge power wire. or will it at least be better than my current amp? which is a hifonics bxi1210d

If you're ok with the fact that the ONX1 does not sum its inputs (requires mono signal on both input plugs) and requires you to split one of head unit out channels into two, then I guess ONX1 is fine. I am personally wary of company that makes you buy a $10 Y-splitter and possibly take a hit in SQ just so that it can save a few pennies on its pre-amp section. If a was buying a 1kwatt mono block, I'd get Boston Acoustics GTA-1000m or something similar. Kicker should probably be fine too. I got myself the ONX1.1500D for $140 during the black Friday sale, and then returned it once unopened once I read its PDF manual more carefully.

well, you could always just use the pair of sub pre-outs on the head, and then set it mono out, lol. i generally don't buy new anyways.....

Not every head unit has an option to switch to mono out, lol

i suppose not, so you get half volume when it plays bass on only one side. never been a biggie to me. only remember one side where r/l bass was really utilized, and that was an old beasty boys song.
