Alex's Silverado

It'll be thre frame of my box so I only have to use a layer or two of 3/4 birch ply. It will also allow me to easily swap baffles.
I'd feel confident with 1 layer provided you build a solid cage. Definitely my plan for my next vehicle.

The other benefit of swappable baffle is being able to easily audition new gear and have different cone area options if you compete (particularly if you're on a team and don't want to step on toes).

I'd really prefer to keep the option of having the port be everything but the baffle with option for inserts as needed.

I'd be game, but I likely wont have the strength to do any heavy lifting this year. In fact I'm looking to find someone up here that just likes to tinker to get some things done.

Price point I've seen on getting a home welder with good reviews is 350-400$. I think you'd regret going cheaper. I'd suggest looking around pawn shops, I've scored some great deals on tools that way.

So this probably wouldn't do it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
ARC Welder 110/220V AC Welding Machine 250 Amp + Mask Accessories PVC Yellow | eBay
Stick welders are designed to weld thicker material. 250 amps is plenty to weld 3/8 steel. And you'll want to run it on 220 volts. For a mig unit you'll want about 180 amps. I personally would never buy or recommend a non brand name welder. Does it come with a warranty?

Good idea, I'll check shops in the bigger cities

Does the cage really need to be 3/8s? I was thinking more like 1/4"
For the angle iron, I thought 3/8 would be good. 1/4 or even 5/16 would probably be fine for the square tube steel. I guess I could look back and see what other people used

So that stick welder probably would do it. Yes, I'll be running it on 220v. If anything, it's $82 shipped and I can practice my arc welding

"Warranty covers replacement or repair, contact us for warranty details."

get one from a pawn shop if you want it long time. i dont weld, but i want to. cheap welders are chinese and dont produce good quality welds
Probably will check pawn shops now

Well, the wall has been torn out for a while and I just got the external voltage regulator for my new alts. They should be ready in a couple weeks. There was a delay because I requested an extra special paint job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif Going to be sick!! I am a little worried if one regulator can handle three alts though. I saw some people online had problems externally regulating multiple alts with one unit. I might be going up to Minnesota for a month, which would really throw off my plans. One of my other uncles lives there and was putting in a huge retaining wall when he hurt his back. He offered to pay me quite a bit to finish his landscaping project. It would finance the majority of my build. If that happens, my 7k's will sit out in the shop for a while, just collecting dust

One blue box for 2 alts... don't run three one one box.

I've got one of those regulators here I'll sell you on the cheap if you wind up needing more.
Any gut pics of those amps?
How cheap? Want to PM me?

You know, I have the bottom plate off of three of them, but never took gut pics. I can this next weekend though. Right now, I'm six hours away from them. Here's a stock photo though:

Alex sends me 70$, I ship it to wew_lad who pays for shipping to Alex, provided both of you are cool with that and Alex can wait til you do your testing.

Mine has excessive amperage label on it but it's the same unit
