Featured Newbie Seeking Help with Audio Configuration

I currently have a Kicker compR 12 wired 2ohm on a 1000w monoblock and it rocks with deck power on the hi's... /w/ amplified hi's a 4 ohm setup from one of those mini 1ohm amps is going to lack, no question. His signal chain is one thing and yes... it may be needing attention

That statement alone begs questions. No series or parallel?
How TF is that accomplished with an SA classic?

I guess time does fly I'm nowhere near that old but playing with car audio 25 years now and it feels like yesterday when I bought my first woofers

Well if the classic is wired at 4ohm load
He should have a dual 2 ohm driver wired in series
He can just rewire the sub in parallel for 1 ohm

That amp dyno's around 1300 watts to clip at 1ohm
Plenty of juice for that classic to dance
Even if he's mistaken and has a dual 4 ohm driver and is wired to 2 ohm load that amp dynos at 1000 watts

Unless someone wired his dual 4 ohm driver to 8 ohm

Ok not giving up yet again just tired lol! Should I rip open the sub and take pics so you can advise if it is wired as 4ohm or whatever and or should I rewire? Thank you all truly appreciate it. Actually if anyone is down to jump on a FaceTime quick call when I am in front of the car and take a quick looksie I can pay for the time if you want for the diagnostic help if it yields a successful outcome (side note so should I get a new amp and if so what recommendations for the mono amp) number is 972 972 0878

So based on the current sub amp I am running I’ve spoke to a few installers and they mentioned it is plenty to power just the one 12 I have but they advised it needs to be wired correct to have the correct output bla bla bla - below are the spec on the amp - I will open the box and see how buddy wired it and hopefully get more insight how it should be wired..

You don't need to remove woofer just yet if you have a multimeter you can measure the ohms off the speaker wire
If it measures 4 ohm then it's probably a dual 2 ohm coils and you can decide to remove driver to wire down to 1 ohm if you wish

Ok so if I scrap this amp and donate it to charity will the following do!?!! Heading to Best Buy since I have the total tech membership which allows me to return delinquent audio equipment should that issue arise

Ok I will check shortly let me pick up a multi meter - so you mentioned “down to 1 ohm if you wish” what will this achieve and what are the benefits, sorry for the silly questions I have never owned a dual voice coil sub that has so many ways to be wired to be quite frank lol. You have been super helpful with this thus far and truly appreciate the support, chat GPT is not the best option here to rely on !

Your amp should be fine for that woofer
Unless ur intention was to rattle stop signs?

That woofer is rated at 750 watts rms

If your woofer is a dual 4 ohm coil
You can wire it down to 2 ohms and you will have more than rated power for that woofer about 1000 watts on tap

If your woofer is a dual 2 ohm coil you can wire it to 1 ohm and you will have even more power
You should be OK

OK good to know
Now with a multimeter ur going to test the resistance on the speaker to see how it's wired internally

When you have a chance unplug the speaker wires from the enclosure
Put the multimeter oh ohms
Put red lead on positive terminal and black lead on negative terminal
Then get back to us with the reading

Not possible if it is a dual 2 ohm driver
Did you measure from the terminals on the speaker box?

Only way it will measure 2 ohm is if 1 of the coils isn't connected inside
