Ok, so the problem never went away. I haven't driven the truck much lately, but all the problems are back and worse.

The power/ground is fine sits at 12.9v at the amp with the charger on it and doesn't drop below 12 when playing. If I unhook everything and hook it back up, the amp will play for about 30 seconds and fade away. While playing a 40Hz tone after it fades away, it sounds really choppy, not a smooth bass note. Sometimes the power will come back, sometimes it will not. All gains, subsonic, HPF have all been set. I have also tried different RCA's with no luck.

Now with that being said, is there anything I can check on the amp here? I don't know if I can afford to send it out and nothing be wrong with it. Thanks

What does the battery sit at with no charger ?

~12.6, but it pulls it down in the 11's if the charger isn't on. Its an optima yellow top, I also have an HC800 and HO alt on the way.

It could be your output RCAs on your cd player.

Friend had a similar problem, come to find out the RCA's wasn't putting out but like .1 volt and then fade to nothing after a few seconds.

And his was a alpine also.

Just something else to look into. Most of the time, the amp wont just fade in and out, like that.

I have hooked another amp/sub combo up and it plays fine. Is the only way to measure RCA outputs with an ocilloscope? I have access to one at school, but I won't be back there until the middle of Jan.

I already know what the problem is, I see it from time to time. Bad capacitor on the input circuit of the amp, can guarantee you that is it. Is it under warranty? If not send it to us for repair, we will get it fixed up. If it is, contact Jacob.

Playing on the bench wide open now - so far we have found nothing wrong.

We will keep playing it for a while to make sure.

We did note the bass boost was at +18 dB.

Put the power clamp on it too after about 10 minutes - everything is normal.

Not sure what to say about your setup except perhaps try yet another RCA like the one I suggested:

I had tried turning the bass boost up before I sent it in. I was just trying to get anything out of it, but it didn't respond. I guess I'll try another set of RCA's, it'll be the 4th ones.
