Sundown 1500D issues

11.8 with the vehicle off could be a bad battery or a very poor ground - should be over 12.
could be an issue to. how old is your battery OP?

I stand corrected I was wrong you all are right....
WOW:eek: this doesn't happen to often. someone admits when they are wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Your accessibility and willingness to help makes me want to try Sundown next.

One reason I bought this amp.

I'm heading over to the shop now to recheck everything. I'll test at the battery but I'm almost positive its near 13 v resting. The subsonic filter is almost in the middle, slightly to the lower side. The highpass is not turned very far at all. I am using monster RCA's, but I had a little amp on an 8" L7 for about a month before I installed this stuff, so I don't think it would be the RCA's.

If I remember correctly, for some reason, the Sundowns on occasion don't like "high end" rca's I don't have any science behind my claim, but I did experiance it myself, and if I remember correctly Jacob has touched on this subject before in an different thread in the past.

I don't know if this oddity is the same with other Zenon based amps, or has anyone else experianced it?

It is just the "fancy" RCA connectors + high end RCA cables - for some reason the center pin doesn't make good connection on occasion.

These Scosche cables always work - we use them on our bench:

As for your knobs...

The LPF should be able half way - that is where most people like it.

With your subsonic up and LPF down you are cutting out alot of the bass frequencies on both ends.

Honestly that does sound like a bad ground.

Good info about those RCA's Jacob/Kent, hadn't heard that one before //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I'm using Knu Krystal RCA's and they make 100% contact just so everyone knows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

monoprice RCA's FTW!

bad ground FTL!
I love monoprice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. For car audios I stay with Knu RCA's though, they are pretty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif!

I swithced to mid grade tsunami and no issues. which save me a butt load! It actually kept my habit of buy so called high end stuff in check.

Ok so checked the grounds and the one under the truck going to the frame was loose so it was re-crimped and soldered. Everything stays on now and voltage at the amp = voltage at the battery. It still seems like its not putting out what it should, I'm going to mess with the subsonic and HPF and see if thats what is holding me up. Also if it was the RCA's that would affect output right since the input signal isn't correct?

Got it set now. It would hold a constant 54 VAC on some notes on the output, which I know isnt totally accurate since I dont have a clamp on the speaker wire, but thats well over 1500 W.
