Sundown 1500D issues

Hah - thanks *laughs*

In any event... hoping it all works out for the OP - tested good for us here. Could have just been something off the wall. It has happened before where the amp starts working for the customer after we just hook it up here and send it back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PS: If it STILL doesn't work we'll just exchange it for you - so let me know.

I get down to bloomington every now and then. I have some friends down there that go to IU. Maybe we could work something out.
Indeed. If you still have problems, hit me up. I work Tuesday and saterday nights, but I'm open pretty much every other evening.

Well got the amp back in today.

Played on about 1/4-1/2 gain for about 10 minutes just checking everything. So then I adjusted the gains, got 54 VAC output pulling ~21 amps, so around 1100 RMS. Watched the voltage at the amp while playing and never dipped below 14.2. So I thought all was fixed and headed to dinner. After driving for about 15 minutes, it stops. When I got to dinner, I unhooked my speaker wires and the remote gain wire and went in to eat. Came back out about an hour/hour and a half later and hooked just the speaker wires back up. Played fine, sounded great. Approx 25 min down the road, there it goes again. Watching the volts on the way home, never dropped under 14.0.

So now I'm thinking this can't be an install issue. How could it play full power for 20-25 min if it was something with the install? Then, just sitting for a while and playing full tilt again.

Anyone have any idea at all?

I think it is going to come down to a replacement, I was just seeing if anyone had anything worth trying or any new thoughts before continuing.

Man if i had a 1500D in stock i would be up there tomorrow to swap it out for you as it sits right now all i have is a 3000D..But i am sure jacob will take care of you

One last question - did you ever get the battery tested ?

Try running a solid 12v to the remote terminal - perhaps your remote voltage is sagging. Of course don't leave it that way as it'll drain the battery but it will tell you if you need to find a new remote lead.

We tested the heck out of it here on our bench. Want to be sure we have covered all the bases before shipping stuff around.

I played it for about an hour today while driving. Volume never went over 18 (Gains were set at 25). I thought that might have something to do with it, so I pulled into the garage and was going to put the DMM on there to see what it did when it quit. So I shut the truck off, turned the key back on and no output from the amp.

I took leads straight from the back battery and used a switch for the remote just to make sure it was getting enough. Here is the video from that, the clamp meter is on the output (VAC) the fluke is VDC at the amp.

I also have a video of it with the truck running and no output. Also tried putting it in a friends car and there was no output. I can post videos of those two if you want. Looks like I'm just going to exchange it.

I believe you said you tried new RCAs, can you make a vid of your grounds?

Also, I thought my system took a dump, but my HU ground was not secure as it should have been. But then again, same results in a different car. It would just **** to have the amp not be the problem. .

Very weird indeed - I'll have to send that one to dB-R to see whats going on with it.

Shoot me an e-mail and I will send out a call tag for the amp again on Monday - and ship another one out for you as well.
