No not really. It's just a loud like crackly sound. Almost Sounds like plastic slapping.. But I don't see any spots that seem to have the seal cracked or anything

Tap on the edge of the cone/ dustcap. Are there any areas that sound different? I've had 2 w7's dustcaps come loose. Makes an awful plastic smacking rattle.

Loose dust cap can cause some racket.

dohh i forgot the w7 uses krapton formers which wont make a metal sound

Also I took it out of the box and played it and the sound seems to be coming from the back of the sub/magnet..

Did you ever get jl sub situation fixed?
