By your own words you had some idea that what you were buying was not premium priced and you expected good customer service.
Put it this way, I bought an over/under this winter. I couldn't justify the cost of a Browning or Beretta so I bought Savage. If/when the thing needs warranty work I won't be surprised if it takes months to get sorted out. Now if I'd paid 4X the money for a "B" brand I'd expect a different level of service. The Porsche dealership should kiss your arse more than the Kia dealership.
Now waiting months on a refund is unacceptable, but caveat emptor. I do business with the kind of guys that answer their phone if they're on the golf course on a Saturday. Before forking out my hard earned dough, I'm going to feel you out whether you're a walk in business or an online presence. From there I weigh out if your rep for quality/service justifies the cost or savings.
SQ is not crooks, so you'll get your money back, it'll likely just take more pestering from you.
The other point of my posting isn't so much trying to knock you down, but taking a stab at the industry and community in general which is largely in a race to zero. Most "companies" are just one guy and a warehouse slapping his own brand name on the same handful of Chinese mid-fi. People in general should expect to pay more for "established" brands, a brick and mortar storefront (and the security that comes with that), or roll the dice to try to save a buck.
