opinions on edead sound deadener

if second skin decides they want to price match what i can get some of the other stuff for, ill represent it all day.
Go ask a BMW dealer to price match a Kia and see what they say...

Again, in easier terms to understand, and for the last time from me:

$100 worth of a quality product will out perform $100 worth of a shit product regardless of the square footage.

You say that you have a budget.

Then, if that is the case, rather than buy $100 worth of sub par material, why not buy $100 worth of quality material. Even though you get less sq footage you will get more performance

What you are doing is like spending $300 on a 1000 watt Pyramid amp rather than $300 on a 500 watt cadence amp and telling us you got a better deal with the pyramid amp because you are on a budget. Makes no sense!!!

Reminds me of the joke:

I have some good news and some bad news.

Bad news is we ran out of food and all we have is cow manure

The good news? There is plenty of it and it is cheap..

I can certainly understand that you want to save money, and that you are on a budget, but when you are don't look at the whole picture , and only focus on the the sq footage, you do the exact opposite of saving money!

i took every bit of your advice. i understand that there are many superior products to others, and respect that. however, the initial question here was about eDead, and it evolved to this. i still take the advice, and if i accumulate that budget, ill put it to use.

i have a lot of sq footage to cover. i would rather cover it all with a not so great product, than just my spare tire well with a great product.
See, that is the thing.

You do not have to cover every sq inch when you use a good product.

You save time, money, energy and don't run the risk of it melting or causing brain tumors..

That is the exact point we are trying to make.

so the claim that fat mat is a butyl based rubber is a lie?
That's right. The owner took it off the main Web site and promised that his people would stop telling callers that it was butyl, but the last I looked, he still had it on his eBay auctions. FatMat is asphalt.

yep. i bought it on ebay before all this asphalt talk. i thought it was butyl. i wrote them and asked if they can refund it when i receive it. i thought about it. yeah i do come in contact with a lot of hazardous things everyday, but i think youre right. i dont know if i want it in my trunk all the time. im in my car a lot.

and the UE is even more expensive than the other prices i was complaining about
I have both the UE and Damplifier Pro. The SS is much thicker/denser than the UE and adheres much better. The backing is not even comparable.

The only nod I'll give to the UE is tight concave areas, it is much more flexible.

Yup, and again, I believe you sacrifice a lot of performance by not having aluminum foil. I know you are stuck on the idea that you need to fully cover every surface, but that just isn't true. Full coverage is the easiest way to go, but it is quite wasteful. Treating the outer 1/3 of any panel improves things very little. Applying deadener near bends and welds gets you very little. You can make do with less than you think. Get a decent product, apply it wisely and you will get a better result using fewer square feet than you can get slapping a low grade product over everything.

I find this choice bewildering, considering you are admittedly a noob in this field, and two experts are telling you that is exactly the wrong approach.
Good luck with whatever you end up sticking to your car.
