Indecisive, Sealed or Ported, Opinions?

This is what I really wanted. But if I’m going ported I would probably have to extend it out toward the metal holders right there which isn’t an issue. Just wondering if I’d offset the woofers and slot to the right or slot through the center and two separate chambers.

Or aeroport towards the top so it kind of aligns with the original sub opening?

See how this one is ported for the IS lexus’

Skars are nice. The American Bass XR's are not the greatest, for the money. Any brand that doesn't provide the cone surface and the Xmax is a little questionable. For the same money, get some L7R Solo Barics or the NVX VCW12's. Those sound really good and they push a lot of air. The L7R's have bigger surface area with 17.5mm of Xmax, but the NVX's have 23mm of Xmax. I'm too lazy to do the math to find out which pushes more air.
What do you think about the Skar SVR 12”s? I heard they get low and loud while still having really nice quality

Gee... I wonder if a pair of 10s in a 4th would work? Plenty loud in my experience with punchiness and a sealed type response. A decent designer could ratio the peak giving a smoother response. Also that skipass is the perfect size.

Another option is to do a trunk baffle instead of a box.

If you keep the skars I'd go ported. They don't make anything that'd do great sealed so you'd just be sacrificing output for nothing imo

Those Alpines are really nice but I think either dayton ultimax or sql-12's would give more bang for buck

Or should I bite the bullet and spend more and get two 12” Type R Alpine Subs
I can't speak for Skars, but I can say that the Type R can hit pretty damn hard in a sealed box. I have two in a box sitting in my garage (replaced with a different setup) that are sold and being picked up soon. They were powered by a B2 amp.

Ported vs sealed: I prefer sealed for the flatter response, as I'm more a music listener than a dB goal chaser.

Sooo still between sealed and ported... Ported requires a lot more room. I feel like I could be able to fit a bigger sealed box that may play flat and lower, just afraid to loose any sound that is mainly prefered with ported since I've never heard a sealed box before.

If it's possible man...try to find somewhere where you can listen to different setups before buying.
