My first glassing worklog. Sub enclosure

Got it painted. I changed my mind on Hammered Nickel when i went to go get paint. I decided on Hammered black metal instead. Well now I think it looks better on the cap lol. So I may sand this down and do something else eventually. For now though it will stay this color and I will put it in the car so I can listen to it for a while.

I will let everyone know what it sounds like and get pictures up when it is in the car.

Looks pretty good, esp. for your first.Somehow it always looks better on the cap.

I don't get why cats are so interested in car audio......any piece I get one of my cats investigates it.If it's not audio related, she doesn't care.

that's a cute kitty you've got there

very nice work.
I say he needs to put that on a post and keep it for a kitty condo... his cat seems interested... he can just whip out a new one right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif... nice work man...

She gets interested in anything she can fit in to/climb on to.

Thanks for the comments guys.

My cat would whoop your cat..

How are you going to bolt the sub down so that when you take a right turn at 30 miles an house your box doesnt roll around like a fat chick in syrup..??

Just curious..

But sweet non-the-less!!

Thanks! I'm working on that.
looks nice. did u spray or brush the finish on?
It's rustoleum rattle can finish. It's hammer textured finish. It is supposed to simulate hammered metal.

That cat is a scrawny *****, but my other cat "Speedbump" is a huge stocky cat that we rescued from the outdoors. He would be a better challenge //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif The sub has a flat bottom to it, but the amp rack will be butting up to the side holding it as well. Plus the little identation in the box snugly fits around the trunklid arm. It won't be going anywhere I assure you

nice box im glad that you finished your work log that you started like 4 months ago
Ya 4 months is a bit ridiculous, but I had so much going on. I really shouldn't have started it at all.

BTW here is the Brahma installed into the box now. I ran it in the house in series off my Dayton 1000 watt plate amp. It sounds good. I would prefer a little lower extension, but it is a car sub not home, so cabin gain will hopefully be kind to me. It does make presence at 20hz, but really gets wicked at 30 and up. It sounds good on a variety of music. Megadeth was downright brutal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Tomorrow I mock up a temporary amp rack and put it in the car.

Here is a pic of it in its final resting place.

I temporarily mounted my 1100d5 in the spare tire well and gave this a whirl. all I can say is HOLY SHIT. This is absolutley the loudest setup I have ever had. I did gain more extension by way of cabin gain when comparing how it sounded in the home. It still becomes very alive 30 and up of course. I think the sub still retained good SQ characteristics. Many types of music sounded great to me with it. I am very happy with how it turned out. Now I need to build up the rest of the trunk and finalize the install.
