My first glassing worklog. Sub enclosure

Update:

Yes I am working slow. I have a lot of shit going on and probably shouldn't even be attempting this anyway. Yes I realize my first attempt also looks like shit compared to some I have seen, but I am trying. Today I finally braced up the front baffle. By rough guestimations it is looking like I will be left with about 2.5 of a little less gross internal volume. After it is fully built I will get an exact size and then determine what I will tune it to. I am resorting to a 4" aeroport with it. I bought the fleece but lost the motivation to tack it in place :p

Nice update, looks like you made substantial progress. When are you going to fleece the rest of it?
Yes I will be fleecing the front baffle to my mold and doing the tedious task of glass, sand, glass, sand, etc, etc. I don't have to get it baby bottom smoth though because the finish I am putting on it is textured, instead of a gloosy paint. I will probably at least stretch the fleece over today and maybe through some resin on it.

Pulled the fleece over. That was enough for the night, so I may consider putting some resin on it today. Overall I am pleased with what the shape will end up being in the trunk.

Second picture, see if you can smooth out that big wrinkle before putting resin down. I'm sure it's easier said than done, of course, but should help out with strength of the enclosure and you won't have to fill it later. Great work, though!

getting there brther man. Did you round over the edges of your baffle ? It doesn't look like it. It will give you a much smoother edge, and more surface area for the resin to hold too. And try your d@mndest to get any wrinkles out before you apply the resin. It will save you sooooo much time sanding //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, I missed the recomendation of rounding the edges with a router, so that didn't happen DOH. I tried for hours to pull all the wrinkles out. I only really have that one in the second pic that I am worried about. The one toward the back of the enclosure is no big deal as that side won't bee seen, so I only need to make sure it is structurally good there and not worry about the cosmetics of it too much. I may try pulling a little more of the wrinkle out in the second pic, but I tried pulling every which way yesterday and couldn't get it. It just put a wrinkle somewhere else. My mold has a lot of curves to it. I may just have to be prepared to fill and sand that area numerous times.

Thanks for the comments.

I have one thing to add, but no new pics.

FLEECE SOAKS A SHITLOAD OF RESIN UP!

Seriously I must have used at least 1/3 of a gallon soaking the fleece all the way through. I don't know if the fleece I used was too thick but it held a shitload before finally penetrating to the inside.
