my 2nd system ever...here we go

**** my bad, it IS 1.3 per chamber, so 2.6 total...sorry about that. are the ports still too small?
They are a bit on the small side...only 8 square inches per cube, the usual recommendation is like 12-16. But that doesn't necessarily mean you will have port noise, but you might //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

well what if i moved both edges over 3/4" (the thickness of the wood). would that take away too much airspace from each chamber? or would that work better
It'll affect the tuning of the box...what's it tuned to right now?

yep we'll see, if it sounds bad, then i already have a little experience building a box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

sorry it took so long for an update....

i finished building the box.

also did the big 3 upgrade and installed a 125amp alternator from a 96 nissan quest 3.0L

big 3 wires and amp wiring kit on my truck

here's number 1 and 2 of the big 3. this is the battery negative to chassis and engine block to chassis. major size difference. i used 1/0 welding cable for these.

i drilled a hole in the inner fender and ran a bolt thru and secured the 2 cables with a lock washer and nut. this will have to be relocated when i bag the front b/c the fenders have to be cut out. but it will work for now.

here's the 3rd of the big 3. batter positive to alternator.

and here it is connected to the new alternator...

this 3-phase project turned out great. (box build/system install, big 3 upgrade, new alternator install). the system is quite loud and sounds very clean. i have the subs wired at 1ohm so i have to be careful with the volume knob. it sounds very nice.

i got the alternator tested at advance auto parts 1 week after installation. 14.12v at idle and 14.05v under load. also, absolutely zero headlight flickering when the system hits.

next up is gettting crossovers and amplifying the door speakers. i already have the amp, just gotta get the crossovers. then comes sound deadening.

all input/opinions are welcome

i dont ask for my dads help too much. he not a fan of the car audio field. just built my first box and the first thing he said when he looked in my trunk was wow that looks stupid. ha but the build looks nice and nice amp.

my dad calls me a punk all the time cause i drive a purple lowered truck, and me putting loud speakers in my truck just reinforced his opinion haha. all the things i'm into aren't his style at all, but he is always happy to help me with my projects, and i'm very grateful of that.

and nope, no port noise at all, just a LOT of air blowing against the back of my arm when i'm driving //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
