How do you know if your sub is hitting to hard?

lol yeah i remember i was going to buy one from you but these subs just cant handle my amp i dont know why its not the ohm load and subs are wired correctly or it wouldnt shot i am running 4 ohms. I am thinking maybe it has to do with the box but i might be wrong also.

The GTI's are dual 6 ohm subs the 12" GTI can easily take 1000Rms Daily
I have a 12GTI" for sale if you are looking for another one

A clipped signal at half power can blow the subs although they are not receiving their full rms rating.

hmm i dont see how it is receiving a clipped signal when i dont have the sub woofer volume up but in the negative and i have a sldin t.f syblink bx which tells me if i am clipping and the amp is a 4ohm load and the subs are wired to 4 ohms and i turned the clip signal down alot so i dont see how it can be clipping cause i thought the same thing at first. are you familar with zapcos equipment?

do you honestly think a zapco amp can't possibly send a dirty signal just because its zapco? just because you can shell out the cash to buy nice shit doesnt mean you know how to use it. you clipped the amp, blowing your subs. i dont understand, you spent thousands on this gear, and then you set it up yourself? for god's sake, spend a few extra bucks, take it to someone who knows what they're doing, and have them demonstrate for you what the difference is between dirty and clean bass, so you'll know the next time you're pushing it to hard.

i'm not talking about your buddy who "knows his shit." i'm talking about a REAL professional at a high end shop, there should be someone at your local zapco dealer who can accomodate you.

I always thought the zapco high end amps really didnt have that much in the way of horsepower anyways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif price of them definately doesnt match output.

but it sounds like it was enough to crispy your subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i dont get why everyones jumpin down this guys throat? everyone was a newbie once... just because he can afford nice equipment and not know how to use it doesnt make you better than him

just have the shop that you baught your equipment from install and set the gains... if anything happens, simply take it back... they have no excuse not to honor your warrenty if you never touched anything except volume

yea well i did get them to set the amp i brought the amp up there but it was not hooked up they set everything on it all i did was set the pre clip level and the amp and i follwed what they said. anyways there going to check everything out on friday. and i think it might be the box to let everyone know.

so you had them set everything up, but then you adjusted the gain and the pre-clip level on the amp? not good man. what do you mean by you followed what they said? what'd they say? "ok we set everything up, now just turn this knob until it sounds good when you get home?"

even if you have them set your gains with a test tone so it's perfectly clean at say, volume 25/35. (just for reference) that doesn't mean that everything you play is going to be recorded at the same level. you need to have someone show you what a dirty signal sounds like, if you intend to push your gear to its limits, and don't want this to happen again. no, it won't "hit as hard" and it may not impress you or your friends as much, but you wont have to keep replacing gear.
