Help with diet and workout plan

I'm Old Greg
I see guys around here talk about how the workout and lift weights, and discuss each other's diets all the time, so I was hoping I could get some help.

I am ~5'8'' and weigh ~160 pounds. I'm not gonna lie, I am alittle flabby, though I wouldn't say that I am completely fat or anything like that.

I've never really had a diet, just ate whatever, and well now I would really like to tone/bulk alittle, and well have more definition. I really don't even know what I need to eat or do to gain this.

Like I said, I really want to gain muscle mass/more definition to my exterior looks. I have a treadmill, and free weights with a bench, but cannot afford to go to a gym right now so I will have to wait for that till later.

If you can, I'd like for you to help me with my diet, as in what I should and shouldn't eat. I have started today to stop drinking carbonated drinks, as I drink alot of them, and will hopefully stick to drinking water.

I'd also like some help as in what I can do with the weights to tone different parts of my body, and also other exercises I could do to tone this or that.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Just try to remember: "Good things consistently, bad things in moderation."

You should really already have an idea of what is good and bad for you, so I'm sure we don't need to explain that to you either.

oh and fyi, this is just asking for e-penis intelligence warfare, so be prepared for it

honestly, i think its simple unless you're hardcore and want to be one of those 5% body fat and 250lb's of raw steel kind of guys

just stay away from uneccessary foods like candy bars, chips, soda, etc. Each essentials like fruits, veggies, meat, healthy carbs, and dont eat more than neccessary (eat when you're hungry, dont snack when you're bored. do pushups or something instead lol)

one substance that i was impressed with for bulking was muscle milk. It helped a little bit with the bulking, but it didnt put any fat on me (which bulking can do)

oh, and one pointer i got this year was run after you lift weights. Supposedly its supposed to help your metabolism or something to keep your body from building fat from excess foods.

its worked wel for me so far this year. i usually work out, followed by 15 minutes on an elliptical or a 20 minute jog or something, and i've cut 3% body fat since christmas. not a really fast way to cut, but healthy nonetheless

Appreciate the help guys.

Yeah I understand with the whole eating thing, I do have a problem with basically just snacking all day.

I'm going to try and start on a clean slate next week, and start eating right, and try to workout regularly.

x2, I've been doing the same thing since xmas and I've trimmed up a lot just today I weighed in at 197.8 I started at 226.6, so almost 30lbs. I've been doing this lately: http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/23-doug--s-mega-cutting-routine.html and I've been noticing a change in fat trimmed up around my body. That workout may not be the one for you but maybe something to get you started or just look at. And like gumby said too, no fast food, bad snacks, soda stuff like that and drink LOTS of water. If you think your chubby try being an inch shorter and 36 more pounds haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. You'll do it man just don't expect immediate results and give it time.

instead of snacking, just tell yourself to do something. do some pushups or ab workouts, or even something to busy yourself like working on your car or something.

that helped knock me off my bored-snacking thing

try to run in the morning, before you eat anything. burns stored fat and helps increase your metabolism for the rest of the day. also, what i try to do, when you're sitting around just watching a tv show, on every commercial break do situps throughout the commercials. if you can't do the full commercial, do around 10-15 every commercial break until you can do it all the way through. 1 half hour show to start for awhile, then add another, etc. i like to alternate days, one being situps, next pushups, etc. may seem stupid (i thought so when i was told to try it out) but it works alot. you'll also find you're snacking less to.

Thanks man I'll definantly look into that workout plan.

And the immediate results is my downfall. I've tried to work out before, but then get discouraged b/c I see no results and lose my drive completely. I'm going to stick with it this time, I am ready for a lifestyle change.

oh also, if your ever gonna eat big, do it in the morning

whatever you eat in the morning sets your metabolism for the day

so, if you eat a granola bar for breakfast and a huge *** dinner, you're just screwing yourself. eat a big healthy breakfast

No problem, sometimes it just hits you where your like "man I'm tired of this" lol, nothing can explain it you just get that thought mentally, for me I guess it was when I bought 36 waist pants hahaha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. The number one thing I've personally noticed is when say you lose 10lbs. and you keep it off for about 2 weeks, that's when you start to see the body change. It's a little different for me though since my goal was aimed at weight loss.
