Btl 15...139.8 db?/ sub suggestions?

yes lol blah blah i dont give a ****. I just got into competitions so Im still not sure how to set gains FOR competition, im sorry if im trying to learn something. but im going to be using an osillioscope, not sure how to spell it, to make sure my signals arent clipped.

I guess I've just never understood the definition to the *gain* level. I've always tuned for daily driving, not for competition so I've never had to turn it all the way up.

I'm going to ask this though. How do people get good scores without turning the *gain* up? is it just a non-clipped signal from a powerful amp? if so, how can i get the most power out of my amplifier without clipping?

Thanks

Dustin

Best way to try and get power out of an amp - wire loooooooooow, and hope you have the electrical system to back it up.

Other than that, I'd really start playing with different boxes if I was you.

All of the experience that I've had, leads me to believe that for a strict SPL setup, the highest tuning you can tune to, according to your vehicle, will get you the loudest. If you can hit a 150 @ 35 hz on the meter, you are REALLY accomplishing something. By tuning to 55 for example, you make it far easier to see that 150.

Not really. It definitely depends on the vehicle, but it also depends on the power. High tune doesn't always = louder.

As in your case, per your sig. If you can get that note down a little, I bet your score would go up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

not really...that was my mistake....tuning a box so that it peaks around or near the incar freq doesnt mean tune exactly on it...if u tune a box lower than the incar freq...9 times out of ten (depending on how low u tuned to ) it will peak around or near the incar freq thus making the setup louder on the mic

ya thats another problem i've been having. The btl is dual 0.7 ohms, so its either .5 with impedance rise, or 1.4. I wired it at 1.4. I dont think the amp would like .5 ohms but I guess I could always try it. Im thinking maybe a 3.5 cu ft box tuned to 35 hz is what ill try next

That is 100% correct. Being that he's already tuned to 46 hz, unless it's a vehicle specific peculiarity, going much below that will be hard to get loud for meter purposes. . .
