yeah, so at the meet today i dont understand why this happened, but i had my BTL 15 fully loaded hooked up to my pca 2000d, wired at 1.4 ohms. I maxed out the level gain, and only participated in db drag. My box was around 3.8-4 cu ft tuned to 46 hz. i burped from 43 hz to 51 hz. the sub gain on the headunit which is a pioneer was set all the way up. i dont understand how i hit a higher score with my icon 15 when the BTL is focused ON SPL. Would the amont of power be a factor? considering the btl needs quite a bit of power to work at its best for spl?

In my case im thinking of just selling it. i dont have the power to run it the best, and i dont have the electrical system to run 2 amps.

I really want to try to purchase a more efficient sub setup in my car, I was leaning towards the SS Splx's, the new Arsenals, and even 2 LA Storm 10s on woofersetc.com for how cheap they are.

Any suggestions on what i should do in my situation?

X2 No shit!Just max everything out huh.Intelligent.

i didnt max EVERYTHING out. just the level and the sub function on the headunit. i could have maxed the bass boost on the amp, the bass boost on the h/u, and the LOUD function on the h/u...but im not a total idiot and i didnt do that

A fully loaded BTL isn't designed for 'SPL', it's designed for street beating and bass race type scenario....not to 'peak' high and hard. The ~1700 watts out of that amp during play probably isn't enough to get all you can get out of it anyhow..

Agreed.

And for future reference, turning the gain up all the way does not = louder.

In fact, most of the time you'll be louder with the gain NOT all the way up, more like 1/2 way or a little past that.

If the gain is up and you roll the volume until clipping, it really doesn't matter. However, probably something you want to test before hand.

I would say lack of power for that sub.
