Ya you could use the angle iron to make a square frame on front that baffle would fit into and then separate the baffle and port area with angle iron so you could just build separate ports to bolt into the metal frame. That way you just build your whole enclosure in the cage and then bolt angle iron frame on the front and baffle would fit into it and vertical or horizontal angle iron across the square frame for the port. I am trying to write what I am thinking and I dont think its working lol does this make sense. Seems it would be so cool to be able to change subs or ports by just changing baffle or port and the angle iron would be easy to seal against the baffle or port with rope caulk. I freakin love that idea ! I would be out in the shop starting right now if I only had room to put it in my truck lol.

You could do a proof of concept in any size box provided you plan to keep sub and port on the same side.

My worry is being able to easily size the port, I can't quite follow what you're thinking of, but in my mind you'd want to stick to the hight of the box but easily adjust width of the baffle to modify tuning. Separate port you're going to use more material and will your driver's side wall remain the side of the port?

Exactly ! You would simple build the biggest shell you can and never have to mess with it again , just change baffles and port and fill for volume differences if need be ? And the angle iron frame could be easily changed if you wanted to change sides for subs or port placement - actually my idea would be able to just unbolt the angle iron frame off front of shell and rotate 180 degrees and ports on other side and subs too ? course that would only work if subs and port are symmetrical and centered but even if not make a new baffle or flip it over ? Now my idea on the port would be like a rectangular box with a face flange on it to fit into the angle iron frame too ? New ports would be easy to make for experimentation. I think I need to find a donor vehicle so I can get working ! I love this idea. I need to find a kid that wants his car walled lol !

You've been away so you probably didn't get the memo, but most of us have just put that illiterate on our ignore list.
I've thought about putting several people on the ignore list, but then you wouldn't be able to respond if they were talking shit about you, because you wouldn't see it. Right?

what you have looks good but instead of bolting on the face of the box, bolt the port on the inside of the structure..
aka the ports depth to the ports sub-frame instead of the face so you can use a seal on the face of the port where its mounted to the box. They also have washers you can get that have a seal built onto the washer..
Want to sketch it? Still doesn't make sense.

What a mess. Removing that plasti dip from the windows reminds me of peeling skin off after a sunburn.
It actually isn't hard to remove. Not that messy.

Not 100% following. Care to sketch it?

Sorry I forgot your question , I think it would be so much easier to not use shell wall as a shared port wall that way making and changing ports would be simple ?
That's what i was thinking. it would be easier to not use a shared wall, but then there's wasted space.

I was thinking about a port something like this screwed to the baffle:

or an aeroport something like this (larger scale of course):

True it wastes a little room for sub placement but more than makes up for it in being able to easily tune ? And yes that port is exactly what i was thinking. I lost sketch up on last pc and never reloaded on this one as I was terrible with it, You know old peeps and there computer skills lol ! I will Old School sketch it up and take a pic in a bit but pretty basic just removable.

Easier, but not optimal use of space and wood. If you ever plan to meter you'll want the port on driver's side, and even if you don't it may as well be because you gain nothing else from putting it elsewhere.

You could set it up either way but ya, but not optimal use of space maybe but use of wood ? Really wouldn't be that much more wood ? Really woods the cheapest thing we buy ? But think of all the wood you will save when you go to change things up just a new baffle and port totally saving the shell of enclosure right ? I am just thinking about it and how to do it , I am a builder but no way know anything about designing the enclosure . This is what I was thinking of and this would bolt to front of shell and I was thinking you could also use more angle iron on the backside back to back creating sort of a sleeve to make attaching it easer and stronger ? I don't know if you can see this ?

You can still read replies if you have people on your ignore list. There's a button on the right, bottom that says read post. I'm sure I'm on several people's ignore lists. Can't make everybody happy.

I was thinking about something similar, but attaching angle iron for the port would limit the changeability of it.

I can still put the port on the driver's side and use a bit extra wood, while losing a tiny bit of space
