Alex's Silverado

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

If it doesn't do what I want, I'll just keep adding port length until the hair gets //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/silly.gif.3549b64aaa5b6729eb8e865319a3234f.gif

I doubt you will have that much trouble pulling a hair trick
I just re-measured now and I have 30.4 cubes net after I put the baffle on

Because I have so much internal volume, my port doesn't have to be very long. I only need about 16 inches of port length to get my 25hz tuning.

However, I got to thinking. If I just make the baffle 4" thick and don't add anything extra for more port length, I'm tuned to ~30hz. I think that would meter really well, but would I still be able to do crazy hairtricks with a 30hz tuning and next to no port length? My last box was tuned to 27hz and had like 42" of length, which is why I ask. I don't care if it's a stupid question, because I guess this build log is kinda wrecked already

EDIT: Or, is real world testing the best way to find out? I could easily add length to the port later on if it doesn't work out well
I like low tuned big box. My truck is tuned to 30hz and my next wall will be tuned to 25hz or lower... You don't loose output tuned low if you do it right, prime example is the Hhr, it's tuned to 25hz and does 155db at 23hz and 160.5db at 35hz. ur pretty close to Michigan you should come hear the Hhr one of these days.

It started raining, so I figured I'd take a quick pic of my progress and update my build logs. One side is almost done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
The white caulk in the background was there from my last build. I'm salvaging the floor and back panels. I'll scrape it off before I resin the corner and side wall

Those are 2x4's turned sideways. The side is 3" of solid wood. Glued and screwed, plus will be covered with resin inside and out. Very sturdy to say the least

Thats a lot of work, very good.

At that stage it looked like your truck was having a sauna installed!

Subscribed, I like your project, cant wait to see it getting closer to being finished.

Thanks, it was just the way you worded it. I couldn't tell if you were serious
Hispls would disagree that I need more power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Oh no, I was just joking with you earlier. You could actually gain as much as 8dB from doubling power. You just won't know until you try it.

So are you screwing the 2x4's together and are you using any glue ? No criticism from it's a serious question. Anyway, the concept seems legit , let us know how it turns out.

2x4 are glued and screwed. U must be blind not to see it in the pictures. Have u never seen a shell get built before?

Yeah, true. I do like the idea of having a short port so you can look in and see the motors easily though

I drove half way to Tennesse and back on Friday without my mom knowing, but Michigan is much further, lol. I'd definitely have to have her approval

Ok, there it's easy to detect sarcasm

Of course, glued and screwed. Then going to resin over everything

Never but I assumed and cool beans bro, wish you the best in you build .

Just use the thickness of the baffle as the port. Lengthen if necessary. 30 cubes at 30hz with your power would be nasty.
