4 channels, 1 sub and 2 6x9s

Ive got an alpine MRV-F345 amp and im wanting to hook up a pair of alpine

type-R 6X9s and a type-R sub (4ohm)

The amp can run at 4 x 75W RMS. To power the sub im going to need to bridge channels 3 and 4, which alpine say will then total 300W RMS. So the plan is to have channels 1 and 2 powering the 6x9s and 3 and 4 bridged to power the sub.

I have no idea atall how to bridge it though, could anyone help me out with a diagram or something showing me how to do this?

Thanks

Rick

it's just a matter of what terminals you hook the sub up to. To bridge the F345 you use the channel 3 (+) and the channel 4 (-), and if you look at the speaker outputs of your amp you'll see that the term "bridged" identifying what terminals to use.

On a related topic. You said your type R is a 4 ohm sub. I don't think Type R's have ever been available as SVC's so you must have a DVC4 which presents a problem with bridging your amp. Your amp needs a 4 ohm load to put out 300w and a dvc4 can only get you 2 or 8 ohms. 2 ohms isn't safe for the amp, 8 ohms will work, but it will cut your power from 300 down to ~150.

ok cheers

regarding the sub, im pretty sure it is DVC (4ohm+4ohm) but cant you just wire the amp into just one set of the terminals?

go to Tech Center, click continue without login and under the 2005 amps you'll find the owners manual for free download.
