ive pretty much ruled out the alternator as the problem considering ive taken it to the dealer THREE times and if they missed a faulty alternator all three times then none of them deserve to work there anymore.

The alt. may be charging, but not at a high enough rate, or with enough amperage to keep up with the electrical demands. If it were me, First I'd find a repair shop with a carbon pile load tester, and test the charging system with a real load being applied, then if needed I'd replace the alt, and do the big 3 with at least a true spec 8 gauge cable. 4 gauge would be MUCH better, but for the demands of your system, a true 8 will be fine.

Just what I would do...

Re-check my post.
You arent wrong, but the things you are asking have been posted about thousands of times in the past and have been discussed to the bitter end.

I just hate seeing that dead horse take another beating.

ok thanks.. someone posted in that thread saying that if my battery is having trouble running the car and the audio system a second battery wont do anything.. and that i should get a new alternator instead.. is this true?

i would like to just do the battery since i can do that myself, but if that wont do anything then i wont get one... i know with an alternator i would have to take it somewhere to get installed.. unless its somewhat easy?

I'd check the alt with a DMM. Stereo full volume, headlights and heater on and see how bad it's dropping. You could be constantly draining the batt and not giving it a chance to recharge, then starting the car gives it a huge hit and it dies.

Does the car try to crank at all or is it completely dead when it happens?

I can do the alt for you if you get one, but I'd consider a bigger batt first. Honestly that's not a ton of power, so a good batt up front with BIG3 should be all that's needed...

its completely dead.. cant even unlock the car with my remote.. car might make 2 clicks when i try to start it if im lucky then will do nothing.

ill say just get a new alt and new batts...and see whats up..but it suxs when that happens...that happened to me one time with my chevy TB when my battery died..it couldnt even lock up with the remote....

are you playing it full tilt right up until you shut it off? How old is the batt as it might not be taking a charge...
ya i play full tilt till i shut it off.. this happened about 3 weeks ago so they gave me a brand new battery thinking that was the problem but it happened again.. twice.. battery is 3 weeks old max

1.amp is ******* to much juice to the bat.

2.alt aint helping the bat at all.(in that means alt is dying or is dead already).

3.im out of ideas.

4.good luck with your car man..hopefully youl find the problem.

I didn't see if you have an alarm or not. My old car I bought used, I starting having all kinds of crazy electrical problems with it. I would drive down the highway at night and bam the whole car would shut down. I would be coasting down the highway at 55 in the dark. Took it to about 5 different mechanics, last one finally figured it out. Apparently the car had an alarm in it, and all the vehicles power was running through it, consequently it was shorting out. So when the mechanic took the brain and anything else related to the alarm out, all was right again:cool:

it does have an alarm but ive never had a problem with my car until recently.. and the most recent thing ive done is i installed my system.. so im banking on the fact that thats gotta be the source of my problem
