WTF.. car problem has to be audio related

ok heres a quick rundown
3 weeks ago my car died and had to get it jumped.. the car didnt crank or anything.. interior lights wouldnt turn on.. couldnt unlock car with remote.. car was COMPLETELY dead..got it jumped by AAA and took it to the dealership, they thought it was the battery so they replcaed it.. a week and a half later the same thing happened.. took it to the dealership and they blamed it on a loose positive terminal.. i was skeptical of that being the problem but took the car back trusting their word for it. 1 week later SAME THING happened.. now its at the dealership and they have it hooked up to testing equipment and they have no idea what is wrong.. they tested the amp in my car and said that wasnt the problem and they have had no trouble starting up my car...

the ONLY thing i could think of that it could be is that when im blasting the stereo at almost full volume everywhere i go its draining the battery faster than its getting charged.. is that even possible? idk what else it could be..

the dealership tested for parasitic drain, they tested the charging system.. found nothing

any help GREATLY appreciated.

i havent read the thread completely but depending on what kind of car it is, it could very well be whats called a "parasitic draw".

something is staying on. its pretty common on certain cars. but if you're going to try to diagnose a car that isnt known for these issues it can get a little tougher.

get a dmm. run the car for a bit. shut it off, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, attach one lead to the negative terminal of the battery, and one lead to the wire that you disconnected that runs to ground. set the dmm to read amperage.

on mercedes, anything over a draw of .06 amps is what we consider excessive draw. also make sure you let it sit for 30min or so and see if the amperage drops (will usually be higher, amd then drop to under .06 over the course of 10 mins or so on our cars).

it could also be that you have a intermittent draw (which of course mgiht not show up at the dealership) its gonna be a little tougher too. anyways, at this point start unplugging shit that you suspect might be staying on. again, if this is a car you are unfamilar with you will need to look up a wiring diagram and start disconnecting "legs" of circuits (its usually easiest to do at the fuse box).

u know i hate to come on here and tell u guys this after u guys tried to help me so much.. but i believe ALL of this was my fault.

so heres what happened.. i went out to my car just now and started it.. i noticed a dome light was on.. im like hmm thats weird is my car randomly turning on domelights? so i turn off the car.. go out and close the door.. and one dome light stays on..

now i was confused at first... im thinking to myself how i would never notice a dome light being on.. then it hit me

the last thing i do before i get out of my car is i take off the faceplate. it gets dark outside at around 6 so if i get back after 6 i have to turn the domelight on in order to see what im doing.. then without even thinking i get out of the car and close the door and leave. DOME LIGHT STILL ON... i wouldnt notice a domelight being on during the day so i never even noticed.. i feel like such a retard taking it to the dealership 3 times and having nothing to be found wrong with it.. and i apologize to all of u for wasting ur time..

thats not really retarded. we get that at the dealership every so often. i mean, we talk shit about you behind your back and all, but still, it does happen.

lol taking off the faceplate is the last thing i do before i get out of the car so i just leave the car not even noticing i left the dome light on... i mean i guess its not that retarded but its just so simple.

well i was wrong.. car died again today.. 10 days after i picked it up from the dealership.. i know i didnt leave the domelights on.. FOR A FACT.. idk what to do now..

dealership couldnt find anything.. taking it there is just gonna leave me without a car for 5 days.. idk i guess ill have to unhook the amp and see if thats causing it..

idk what else to do.. im pretty much on my own now
