Will Sub Still Play Well with Slightly Burned VCs?

So... I messed up... I installed my new Alpine X 12", and was more than ready to hear some deep bass notes so (like a dummy) I turned the bass way up on my HU EQ during the "break-in" period. About 10 minutes in and I could smell the VCs frying so I immediately paused the music and turned the bass back to 0 on the HU. The sub is playing fine, but I'm wondering if I've done any permanent damage that will restrict the sub from playing at it's full potential after the break-in period. Any thoughts? Should I get the sub looked at, or just roll with it.

The smell is the adhesive on the coil heating up. This smell can be a sign of things about to get toasty but sometimes coils can be stinky for a week or so while heating up and it will go away (brand new sub). If the sub is still playing fine then you are fine. Get to know the limits of the sub and once you do, don’t go past it.

Run it. You will know when the sub has reached and is reaching its limitations. When the sub loosens up in a couple weeks you will notice , that may be the time to tune again on your sub stage.

Let me guess he's going to get on me about posting on a old post? (Been there done that) lmao I'm new at navigating in this forum so I don't notice the date right off the bat.
