so do they have a ridiculously high sensitivity...like 110db or something? and bandpass boxes have high db rating like that, does this sub sound boomy like bandpass boxes do?

rediculous? lol.... no such thing... yes the woofer is extremely efficient..

that isn't any basis to form a comparsion ; box v/s sub.. sensitivity (efficiency) of a woofer has no bearing on sound.. at all

this sub is amazing.. in all shape and form...

It's essentially a rotary version of a Contrabass ( http://www.servodrive.com/cb.html ). Invented by Tom Danley of Servodrive, it uses a servo motor to turn the diaphragm.

What's the advantage of Tom's design? Flat BL curve, and lots of BL if desired. Servo motors offer constant BL over their full rotation, and can have BL values in the 50-60 N/A range. As such, you just play with geometry of the servo shaft and belt system (or, in the case of a rotary unit like the Cyclone with the diameter of the vane). Quite ingenious, and very effective. And yes, I've heard Contrabasses (and other servo-driven subs like the BT-7) before, spoken with Tom and the gang at Servodrive, and even spent an afternoon there checking out their stuff.
