Want a new sub(uber)woofer 18" or so.

I was gonna build it out of the trunk some, right now I have NO, absolutly NO, NONE, ZERO trunk space. If I could use my spare tire well (its like 3-4 cubes) then fabricate outside of it some, I would have plently of room.

"uberwoofer" doesn't mean "sound like shit woofer"I was just looking for a larger sub such as an 18" that was pretty powerful without sacraficing clarity...

ok when u are saying uber (which essentially means super or extraordinary), i don't think many people are thinking high sq levels.

I went with 18" inch because I wanted 1 big powerful subwoofer.
Instead of 4 12"s that leave me with no trunk room.

I don't see how you get SPL is derived from simply more power. I'm sure you can get powerful SQ, what you are implying is contradicting what you are saying???

SPL setups tune up the ports to 5hz under the car's resonate freq. or so, the higher the freq the higher SPL levels?

I figure I could just get 1 18" and have it sound good yet still powerful.

who said spl is derived from more power? the xxx is one of the cleanest mofos out there and still drinks power. i never said spl=power or vice versa. perhaps you and i are misunderstanding each other. but when u say one big powerful uber subwoofer, i assume you are talking about an spl oriented sub. and, you're going to need more room than that stratus has (ur alpine box is seriously cramped) unless ur gonna lose the rear seats.

3 cubes for an 18 is like feeding a labrador a piece of dog food a day and expecting it to be satisfied. this is unless, however, you have an 18'' in mind that doesn't require that much room.

I was gonna make a false floor, I wasn't just going to use just the tire well.

Possibly incorporate the amps in it, but there is a lot of room in my trunk, but it is a very odd shape which makes it a perfect applicant for a fiber glass box.

lemans i have read all ur posts on this particular thread and buddy u sound really stupid.....just because he wants a 18 doesnt mean he cant ask for a little sq out of it and trust me u can have an 18 and still get decent sq power and cone area do not make up weither its spl or sql oreineted ......but rawr def. check re xxx or the avalanche or if u can find a tcsound/18 u might look into one of them....
