Hole in my surround

I have a 12" Punch Hx2. When I mounted the sub to the box my screwdriver slipped and poked the rubber surround. Im not sure if it went all the way through but it's noticeable. Is there any way I can fix this without buying a new sub? If the hole isnt all the way through then i nicked it pretty good. Whats my options? Thanks

put your hand over the surround closest to the screw..

hands can heal... but subs can not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

turn the sub on. if you can feel air movement through the hole, it's through.

and any kind of silicone sealant will work, just make sure it's REALLY THIN and let it cure overnight.

but no i don't think you can help the appearance.

Deffinately cover it with some sort of glue, and make sure it is a thin layer as to not offset the weight of the driver too much (or rather its balance).

Silicone I would be careful with though. Not most subs, but some have surrounds that will deteriorate with silicone fumes...

well yeah silicone fumes... but i mean seriously, it takes a lot of fumage for air to deteriorate rubber.

i really think that the whole "silicone eats surrounds" thing is only for people using a LOT of silicone, on a sealed box.

i know that if i had a ported box i wouldn't worry about it.

Very true...and I'm guilty of not waiting for my sealant to cure before throwing the sub in, just had to mention that it's a possible concern //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
