OP, i am selling my type r 12's for $200 shipped OBO w/ alpine grills if you want to buy them. It will save you about $80 or so since you might want the grills so your subs don't get damaged.

BS, i heard my first type x the other day. One Type x is much louder than the type r.

i have heard all kinds of type r setups, only 1 type x setup and the guy had the bass all the way up and the lows at 0 on the head unit. He had it in a sealed box in the trunk giving it 1000 rms from an alpine 1000 watt amp so it was matched perfectly. The Type X sounded great, the bass was punchy and it was rattling his rear view mirror like crazy, and there was pretty good window flex for a 12 IMO.
