Well ill be having the boxes built by a guy that knows boxes like the back of his hand, hes very good, and i guess its going to be tuned to around 40hz not sure on the the cubes yet, but 4200wrms on 8 8s which is the same as 2 12s so it should do something!!

i ran my hk802sx @ .25 bridged for 2 months on music and it never went into protect once...

8 8's have a considerable amount more cone area than two 12's bro

But this is interesting and cant wait to see it

i would be kinda sketchy about tuning anything to 40hz in a tahoe.

The HK4000D is a completely different amp from the HK802SX. The SX is a class A/B (extremely inefficient) and the 4000D is a class D (still not that great of an amp).

Should sound good.I'm runnin MA stuff right now and think its decent equipment.Don't know why people think the HK line is so low budget.Really its good bang for the buck even if the are current hogs!

No, not even good bang for the buck. At all.

the 4000 isn't to bad.. but the 802 is a REDICULOUS current hog. Literally one of, if not the, least efficient amps of its size. We clamped one and it was drawing about 250 amps to make a little over 1000 watts @ w/ imp rise @ 8 ohms or something.

I had an HK802SX at 2 ohms. I had 2 G31 deep cycles and my 200 amp alt. I had voltage drops down to 10 volts. The amp went into protect after hard bumping for about 5-10 minutes or so. Not because of the voltage, but because of heat. It was like a frying pan after just a few minutes. At .5 ohms, it shut off in about 2 minutes. Absolutely the worst amp I've ever owned or heard of. Also, it clamped out (with the voltage drops) at 800 watts at 2.## ohms. Unless you have an infinite bank of batts. Please don't use this amp ever.

I run an hk1000d @ 1ohm daily with a stock electrical and have had no problems with it. amp gets warm but never hot. I run two amps and never see voltage drop below 13.6...also paid $188 shipped for it and def think it was a good bang for the buck.
