Subwoofer Recommendation/Sound Science

Dude got back to me about the sub enclosureHe said $150 to build it for me. He asked where the hole for the cables should go. Is it REALLY worth the extra $100 to go ported and custom built enclosure?
YES!! Makes a world a diff compared to prefab enclosures.

I’ll never go back to ported. Sealed gets lower and still plays higher. With ported you have to pick one. And it’s not even that much louder.
You just opened a can of worms with that statement. A lot of people will say that ported stomps all over sealed....even tuned low.

Also; do I need fabric and polyfill as well for the inside?
Nope.

Nope.
Can say what they want. Measurements prove it. Sealed does not need a subsonic filter. Ported does. Sealed does not roll off up top. Ported does.

I used to be on team ported.

The thing about sealed I learnt this time. To get a low f3 you got to go big.

Why don't you build it yourself?.. you're pinching pennies... you got a free design... it can be done for under $100 with materials/ basic tools imo.
Never sawed a thing in my life. Looking at circular saws and they're already at $40 and wood panels at $25. Don't have a table either.

Get it cut at the place where you get the material... Usually it's free.... then screw it using wood glue and cut out the hole. Jigsaw can be cheap... diy is half the fun, unless screwing it together is gonna be a problem too. I'll just keep the smartazz remark that came to mind to myself.

Really.... it's pretty easy after all... your project tho.

Does Home Depot do it and will they do the circular part too?

The circle is up to you... the rest they will do on a panel saw... it's usually free.

A cheap jigsaw or sabresaw is around $20.

Marking a nice circle for the cutout is probably the hardest part unless a template comes with the driver.

Lol I didn’t have to “active” gain set in the scion either. You just made that up.

Don’t forget who you are talking to.
Bro. you literally had a lot left in it and never tapped into it. You literally do not understand how bass recording levels affect pre-out voltage in the head unit. You are too full of yourself to understand basics in musical production. literally provided proof and you disregarded everything like a complete ignorant @sshole.

Dude done forgot I had one of the loudest 2 12 setups in the country. If I would have known about this active gain control it might have been louder. http:////uploads/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
yes now play something that doesnt have any bass in the music, your 12s just became sh*t for output with the same exact settings. Now play rebassed music, your 12s just started stinking. Fking unreal how absolutely **** stupid this comment is.

That’s what the volume knob is for.

If the song don’t have bass then the song don’t have bass. Stop molesting music.

When you listen thru a set of headphones what do you use? Volume.

Ended up getting the SWS and a sealed 1.0 cu box.

Now while this thing has a **** ton of SPL, it REALLY sounds muddy (and in comparison to my friends pioneer two 12's in a sealed box, those sound cleaner and were actually cheaper than the SWS). Definitely not what I expected. But since everything is working, I'll see if I can build a box... but I don't know if a custom box will transform this sub into something that has clearer bass. Guess I should have went with the Dayton HO.
