Sub to use in home?

JL Audio is WAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced and a waste of money. You can do better for far less. If you want the best home audio subs, look into brands like Exodus-Audio, Acoustic Elegence, Creative Sound Solutions, Mach 5 Audio, Fi Audio, TC-Sounds. If you want cheap, check out the Dayton subs from parts-express, they are a great value.

Okay no offense, but i'm not a noob. I know JL stuff is expensive, but it IS good stuff as well. Iv'e owned many subs in the same general league as the w6/w7 (RE SE, IA LI, FI Q) and would gladly take a dub 7 over them any day. But yes I agree that there is no arguing that it is very pricey stuff, I woudlnt' say it's a waste of money though.

Anyways, my point is, i'm looking for specific recommendations. You recommend me something from Fi, but tell me what from Fi is going to run good off 150-200 watts max?

A JBL GTO would do quite well with the power you have.

I have my 12 in a box that's 3.2 cubic feet tuned to 22hz off 200 watts. For $60, I don't see how you could go wrong. Does well on home theater and OK on music. For music, might want to tune a bit higher.

You say you want cheap but you want a w7? I may have been a bit harsh on saying they are a waste of money, but I can get two 15" subs with more surface area, xmax, power handling, with excellent build quality for the same price as 1 13w7.For cheap look at a Mach 5 IXL 12, or 15. Build a box like 20" cube and port it, tune to 20-25Hz, and you will have a nice sub. You could also get a Exodus Audio Shiva-X, put it in a similar box and have another great sub.

Here is what I built, I spent about 1000 bucks though:

I used a CSS SDX-15 and 2 CSS 18" passive radiators, it is powered by a 1100 watt Crown amp. In room it is flat down to 15Hz. It could eat a JL fathom for lunch and still be hungry. Not as pretty or small but it makes a lot of noise.
