I am building a system for my Nissan Frontier Crew Cab, but I am having trouble deciding on where to install the sub(s). I plan on using a 5 channel amp to drive the whole system (probably a JL 500/5 or a PG R9.0:5), which would have to be mounted under the large section of the 70/30 split rear bench. Possible location for sub enclosure:
1. Under the small section of the 70/30 bench. Nissan offers a Rockford Fosgate system that includes a small custom enclosure that holds two 6" subs. Obviously not the best option, but fairly hassle free, as I can order the box from the Nissan parts department. I could also try to make a box for a bigger sub, but given the space limitations, I can't see it being worth the trouble.
2. Custom enclosure/rear center console. Offers more versatility in driver selection, but it's still a pretty tight fit.
3. Subs in the rear doors. Obvious limitations in mounting depth, excursion, vibration make this a poor choice.
4. Under the large section of the 70/30 bench, and relocating the amp(s) to another location. Can fit in two 8"s, or a single 10" (or possibly even a 12"), but would probably entail moving the amp(s) to under the front seats, which would offer limited accessibility.
There are pros and cons to all of these configurations. I really would prefer to keep the radical modifications to a minimum. I prefer stealth systems. Perhaps I haven't thought of something. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
