Sub Solutions for Nissan Frontier

I am building a system for my Nissan Frontier Crew Cab, but I am having trouble deciding on where to install the sub(s). I plan on using a 5 channel amp to drive the whole system (probably a JL 500/5 or a PG R9.0:5), which would have to be mounted under the large section of the 70/30 split rear bench. Possible location for sub enclosure:

1. Under the small section of the 70/30 bench. Nissan offers a Rockford Fosgate system that includes a small custom enclosure that holds two 6" subs. Obviously not the best option, but fairly hassle free, as I can order the box from the Nissan parts department. I could also try to make a box for a bigger sub, but given the space limitations, I can't see it being worth the trouble.

2. Custom enclosure/rear center console. Offers more versatility in driver selection, but it's still a pretty tight fit.

3. Subs in the rear doors. Obvious limitations in mounting depth, excursion, vibration make this a poor choice.

4. Under the large section of the 70/30 bench, and relocating the amp(s) to another location. Can fit in two 8"s, or a single 10" (or possibly even a 12"), but would probably entail moving the amp(s) to under the front seats, which would offer limited accessibility.

There are pros and cons to all of these configurations. I really would prefer to keep the radical modifications to a minimum. I prefer stealth systems. Perhaps I haven't thought of something. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would do option four as its the easiest and you have more room to work with...Now measure and approx. How much space you have so we can give you a better suggestion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If I do option 4, I would probably go with a 10" Kicker L7. It would fit nicely, has a relatively shallow mounting depth, and has about as much surface area as a 12" sub. The amplification then becomes the biggest problem. I would need two amps with a small enough footprint to fit under the front seats. The sub amp can be a bridged 2 channel amp, or a class D mono amp. The other one would be a 4 channel, or possibly a powerful 2 channel amp for the rest of the system.

This could work, but I am inclined to keep the amplification in the rear if at all possible. On the other hand, it has to be the location that will allow me to use the biggest subwoofer possible.

After considering my options, I've decided to go with an 8" subwoofer in a custom-made rear center console. As I will only have a single 8", it has to be a good one. Everyone seems to be raving about the RL-i8. The ID8D2v3 looks like a good choice as well. Basically, I need something that will put out good SPL (for a single 8"), but SQ is a bigger priority. Also, the enclosure will be VERY small (10"x12"x9"), so I need something that has a pretty shallow mounting depth and ratings that accomodate this small sealed enclosure volume. Any recommendations?

I think the RL-I would be your best bet for a single sub setup. They work great in small enclosures (As small as .2 cubes ported). You have in the area of .6 cubes to work with so a small ported box would probably work well...

Anything else (L7, W7, etc) Needs a bigger box than that...Assassins are cheaper but in a direct comparo between the assassin and RL-I its no comparison. Atleast I think so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
