sub for hardcore rock, metal

What should I look for in a sub? I listen to Tool, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, etc. I've got 1200 watts at 2 ohms. I want LOUD, distortion free bass, what are some ideas for subs to fit these needs? 12's, 15's, one sub or two, doesn't matter. Thanks.

i'd say look into 2 diamond d6s or 1 alpine type x or maybee even an SI Mag D2

If you have the cash, an Eclipse alum series sub would more then satisfy your needs. They have excellent transient response for fast high level bass.

i would also agree with the type x i listen to zeppelin, skynard, ozzy, frampton etc and that sub is perfect for it

Really, I almost bought a Type X when they came out. I haven't heard a lot of good things about them though, nothing that bad, but not rave reviews.

well i do knwo alot of people dont have them mostly because of the 600 dollar price tag

I listen to the same types of music...... I run the 12w7's which can keep up with Korn and Metallica without any problems whatsoever.

I have a 10 inch type x... seems really nice for fast hard rock to me... only 500 with the box, canadian $$ too, and from a local dealer with warranty.
