i just installed my new sub, and it was working fine until just about two days ago. it happens when i turn the volume up past 22. when i got the car, there was a ground already setup on the roof of the trunk, so i used it. i havent changed my ground to the battery yet, but i was hoping someone would have some other ideas of what it may be. im running a pioneer deh-p4700 up to a u.s. acoustics 2080. the sub is a 12" pioneer ts-w300r. thanks for the help

doesnt that happen when there isnt enough power from battery/alt to run system.

Lots of reasons why it happens. Low voltage can be one, improper load at the amp is another, improper settings, etc etc. Basically, it's typically just the amp kicking into protection for some reason or another.

My guess here is that you either have the amp's gain or a bass boost somewhere in the system turned up too high, causing the protection to kick on once you reach a certain output level.
