only 120 miles, but it is all back roads and ~3hr drivenot to clutter this thread but.....how far are you from augusta? ill be by there in the next couple weeks.
single 12" with ~2cubes before sub and portpossibly 2 things, your box is too small, and the frequency on ur hu,amp or both are set too high so the sub is getting more current than it can handle and not being able to breath sufficiently
is this bad? when they show that a sub is good at 1.5c, is that before the displacement of the sub or after?single 12" with ~2cubes before sub and port![]()
hpf does not affect the sub....my money is on the amp settingsok, i have an alpine 9885. if im setting the hpf thats not affecting the sub is it? i know i have that at 120hz. as far as the amp settings i have no idea what the people did. i didnt really question them due to my lack of knowledge with all the technical settings on an amp.
ill try to be a little more detailed. so an alpine head unit has volume #0-30 (i believe). the sub preamp is #0-15. when my volume is at say 5, sub preamp on 5, its decently loud. if i wanted more vocals and turned volume to 15, sub preamp at 5, its as loud as the sub will get. even if i crank the sub preamp alll the way to 15.
btw my bass setting is at the max, which is 7. I hope all this makes a little bit of sense?
I usually go for after sub and port displacement....in this case we do not know what the ports displacement is.is this bad? when they show that a sub is good at 1.5c, is that before the displacement of the sub or after?
so if this is the case, would you think i need to change more than just the gains?? i know yall cant do much with out actually hearing and seeing in person. ill type up every setting on that amp tomorrow before i change anything.hpf does not affect the sub....my money is on the amp settings
i know i had a similar box like he has once with a cvr 12 running off of a kenwood 8104d,and when i ran the frequency at 200 on the hu,sub got a lil smelly.the one and only time that a sub got smelly on me.and im gonna say that box is tuned to 38-40 hz prefab boxes are only good for headaches, literally
why would the bass preamp affect the actual sub output? i understand sub=bass but i thought bass, treble, etc affects only the front stage, not the sub. Now that i know it does, why does bass setting affect the subs output but hpf doesnt affect it the sub at all. i thought the whole point of the sub preamp output thing on the hu is so u can change the subs level seperate from the bass settings on my frontstage (which is stock)i never run my hu bass at max.try turning that back down, turn sub level to 15 so the voltage to the amp will be correct, and start over on the gain
