re sub heating up??

ok i took it back up to brandsmart. the guy there said the other guys did it wrong. im not sure what the problem was. they all seem like idiots if you ask me. now i have my bass at 0, my sub output to 15 (max) and i have to turn my head unit up wayyy loud to get the sub movin much at all. i understand u can only get so much with my set up but something isnt right.
How high is your gain set? I would turn your sub output down, if possible. I'm not a fan of boosting output, I'd rather have the amp become more sensitive to the input signal.

lol....sounds like the gain is now set too low
lol as i suspect too. even if turnin my "bass" setting up makes it louder, dont do that correct? im assuming from waht all i have read that i always want bass at 0, and be able to just play with the bass level to get the volume i want from the sub correct?

your range is from 0 to 15?

if yes, then I would set gains with the sub setting at 4 or 5 so you have the ability to turn it down on heavy songs or for normal use, and up to 4 or 5 to crank it.

edit: the "bass" setting should be used for the mids up front. get them set as you want them to sound, then set the subwoofer with sub level on the hu around 4 or 5.

ok, i have the link to the jl amp manuel somewhere in this thread...check that out real fast. there is a little screw for input sensitivity control, and then theres the LF boost knob. they both sound like they could affect the gain or whatever. which one am i wanting to look at? this is all assuming bass is at 0, and the sub level is anywhere from #10-15 (15 being max)

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/Slash_amps/250_1_MAN.pdf theres the link....its on page 2

edit: as the post says above, ill put the sub level to 5 because that point made above makes since.

A lot of people say that with alpines you have to turn the sub output to max, I don't really know if that's true though. With my 9855 I always had the sub output at +15 and never had any problems.

ok maybe these pictures of the amp settings and bass settings on my HU will help

Does your sub not move alot when you crank the volume? it should have some decent excursion. if it's not. I think your voice coils are wired wrong, one is probably reversed...

i think they might be wired wrong i have 2 sr10s in .70 +.5lb of poly fill and a 3"x18" port. running off a rockford t5002 ~1000 @ 2 ohm gain at 50% sub at 12 (0-15) bass at 4(0-8) and they slam! and only get "warm" amp freq at 80hz hu bass freq at 60hz.

i had my bass turned to 8 and sub to 0 on the head unit. thats wrong though i should have the sub up and the bass down correct like i have it now?
