re SE vs. type r

Riiiiiiiight. SE's **** for ported. I'll have to go back and get those guys' name who couldn't sit in my blzr for only a few seconds and then got out immediately because it got loud....plus I'm running only 800 watts for the time being....
As for you sknfkr, if you had a single 12" RE SE, they come in dual 4 ohm.... http://www.reaudio.com/html/subs.htm so wiring 1 you have the option of either a 1 ohm load or 8.

AAAAAAAAAAAnnnnnd....if you had 2 RE SE 12's.....you can also do a 1 ohm final load.... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161 Check the wiring tutorials and say I'm wrong.
Do you mean 2 or 8 ohm load for one? Here is a cut and paste of your link.

1 DVC driver with Voice Coils in Parallel

Connecting the two voice coils of the driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) will result in the following impedances:

Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofer: 3 Ohms

Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofer: 2 Ohms

Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofer: 1 Ohms

Dual-1.5 Ohm Subwoofer: 0.75 Ohm

1 DVC driver with Voice Coils in Series

Connecting the two voice coils of the driver in series (+ to -) will result in the following impedances:

Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofer: 12 Ohms

Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofer: 8 Ohms

Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofer: 4 Ohms

Dual-1.5 Ohm Subwoofer: 3 Ohms

the SE gives more of a flatter freq response more control over music. the type r peaks at two different spots so eq to correct it.

i would not do 2 type r in a sealed that small. no low end response.
winisd is very useless... really.

In real life, the R won't have that secondary peak up high like that.

That's because you musta had the SE in too big of a box wasn't built right not enough power or whatever
anything except the SE just isn't as good of a woofer?

one dual 4 wires to 1 ohm

2 dual 4's wire to 1 ohm

am I the only one that sees something very wrong with that statement?

I heard a dual SE setup, tuned in the mid '30s in the back of an Explorer, do a 143.4 this weekend on the TL. So they have some output potential...I can't attest to the SQ as I didn't get a chance to audition them on music.
its an explorer - lol

Any woofer has potential, the type R just has more than the SE.

well yes. When I had my Epic-160 I managed a 140 even with 800 watts. Not sure how tight the mic is to that of a TL or anything else out there but I was told it wasn't bad....considering the fact that the engine was in off mode, no xtra batts, all stock, stock alt and the bass on HU was at -7.
140 isn't saying much with 4 10's, its nearly the cone of 2 15's.

Now, I'm not saying the SE is a "bad" woof... its not. The type R is just better, and cheaper! If a sealed box is the only option, SE all day... but the type R will outperform the SE in every aspect in a ported box.

Of course, the opinion of someone (tommy) who has actually used BOTH woofers in many boxes doesn't matter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My Premier PRS woofers are rated to handle 300 watts RMS and I'm feeding them 600 RMS on a daily basis with NO problems.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Love my PRSX340 and PRSX720 Amps...and heard great things about their speakers!!

Owned the 10" and 12" SEs....great SQL subs for the money!

Go STeelers!!!!

Actually, I made a little error....wiring a single dual 4 ohm sub you have the option of a 2 ohm or 8 ohm final load. I'm not saying anything but the SE is a good sub....you misinterprited that statement: I was morely sticking up for the SE line....since a few people on here seem to think they ****.
nobody said they ****

they just said the type R is better and cheaper //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

since when can u wire a d4 ohm sub to 1ohm?

Go back and read the last few pages.
I've owned an SE, and now have a type-r
type-r kicks the SE's *** in terms of output, and in all honesty, I think my SE sounded like crap too.

So, IMO, type-r is better all around. I'd have it in my daily box right now if it wasn't too deep. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif But the seXXX is doing nicely in it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
first hand account from someone who has had both....

I tend to agree //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Boomnblzr... perhaps the SE's you have sound loud to you, perhaps they sound great. But... the Q here is what do you have to compare to? 140 on the epic 160 isn't impressive, yet you think its quite loud. It just sounds to me like you dont have alot of experience.

You are in no position to say how tommy's SE sounded. You immediately assume its in the wrong box, but I can say he tried multiple boxes.

Its kewl to stand up for your sub... but you have no idea what its up against - literally //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

140 on epic is like 130, if you are lucky on the tl. So......

I understand to about you sticking up for your subs. But for the first time ever I am gonna agree with speakerman and say you must not have alot of experience with different subs/setups.

I love those woofers. Best SQ woofer I've ever heard.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have a 340 bridged to 2 channel and run 1 side to each coil of each PRS woofer. so total I have (2) 340s for my subs (1)720 for my 6.5" Midbass (1) 320 for my 4s and tweets and (1) 320 waiting for a good use. Probably when I get my next car and install my P9 combo I can use the other 320 for my tweeters.

Go STeelers!!!!
Won tonight but lost Batch to a broken hand. Sure hope Roethlisberger gets back soon.

As far as your avatar is concerned: Donnie Darko was one tripped out fuckin movie.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
