ummm..not broken in? kevin didn't send me a brand new sub, unless rd just packs them in cardboard and not wrapped. (everyother new sub i've gotten is wrapped in plastic and then boxed). mark did. both subs also got many sweeps played through them before any testing. so, if anything, neither sub was broken in.

Can we please get back on topic with the original question about "THE ALPHA" all of this other information is useless to the original poster as he is not asking about the "Classic" or the "Mach 5 subs" his question was pertaining to certain topic "the alpha" somehow this got turned into RD vs Mach 5 vs Low-hz vs SSA vs denim vs cookiemoster vs mrogowski..

so back on topic about the alpha

One review from a clearly biased source means nothing. I am getting an alpha in from Low-Hz, send me a comprable sub and we will compare. I don't care who wins, I am just tired of all this sh!t with SSA members writing great reviews for SSA products haha. That just 100% BS.

Well Im not reading all 4 pages of this thread but will comment after just reading the first page. I have used the rd audio elite spl and a modded versin of the elite spl and also have a alpha laying around that I have never tested.

regular elite spl on 2 power accoustik 3000 - score is at the head (meca style)

at a show I swapped the modded elite spl with a Lanzar Opti 15 and the opti was louder by 3db on 900 watts. Unfortunatley I wasnt able to test it with 6000 watts so I wouldnt take that test to accurately. But If I ever get off my *** and recone this **** thing we would know for sure.

O and I thought the Alpha was a loud sq sub not an spl sub. The elite and HW and SHW were the spl series

Please tell me when snoop owned a 99 olds bravada? Snoop owns a jeep and we all know that is not a jeep. We are on the same team and he posted pictures of my test back in Feburary which is why you might be confused.

I recently had the opportunity to test a RD Alpha.

in the 12" Test Session Box

.3 db behind the Si Mag

Note these scores are to be used as a referance only to other drivers that were tested in this test. I can make a driver do a 150, but this box was built to be most like most spl applications out there today.

doing a 143.7 sealed on the dash in a 2 cube ported box with 2 4 inch aeros tuned to 50 hz peaking 52 hz with approximately 1800 watts. With this amount of power the coil temperature raised quickly and the sub approached mechanically limit

SQ listening Results

1st test

JimJ's Cargo Van in a 1.8 cube sealed box with around 800 watts of power

the subwoofer played accurately and did well in upper frequencies. The bass seemed to be lacking in the lower end, compared to other drivers such as the mag this subwoofer reminded me of the sound of the q in the sealed box ) The low end was there, but not as i would like. I'll let JimJ post his results in here thouroughly

2nd test

2 cubes ported in a Trunk car with approximately 800 watts of power

This subwoofer enjoyed the ported box alot more than the sealed. I must say i was pleasantly surprised low end output of this driver in the ported box. IMO ported is the way to go with this driver. But meh im a SPL nerd.

Im awaiting doing more testing in the trunk car for SPL results hopefully i can get some numbers for you tomorrow out of the trunk car.

Id like to thank RD audio for the opportunity to test this speaker and it lived up to the expectations i had for it

All in all a very nice Mid Level Driver
