RAAMmat honest opinions and experiences.

In any event... it seems like people are more stubborn about dampener than anything else in the car audio world *laughs*

I shared my tests and years of experience with dampener having applied thousands of square feet of material. Take it how you will //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What are your scientific facts? My empirical evidence is that I tried BXT and it works well, I get no vibrations in my car that I can hear... it doesn't matter if one is better than the other on paper, if the outcome is the same or very close that's what counts. Looks like you are bias to SS.
Holy Jesus Christ?!?! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I'm done....

You must have missed the part about mass as well as aluminum thickness.
I used it, even with a thicker aluminum layer its still flimsy compared to the sheet metal you're putting it on. It's the butyl that stops vibrations. If you have a cymbal, what would be better, sticking a bunch of gum to it, or wrapping it in foil to stop it from making sound? What if you put a bunch of gum on it then wrapped it in foil, not much difference I bet.

Good because you are just giving people misinformation. Why did you bold empirical evidence and my experience with RAAMat, do you know what that is? How can you dispute the result? You can't!

im a huge fan of damp pro. best stuff i have used. ill tell you what deadener to stay away from....anything by eD LOL. ive tried all of their deadener in mat form and all of it blows. dynamat extreme is also very good stuff. it would take second in my book. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hell no! Amplifiers! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I always appreciate your posts because of your experience with using a wide variety of stuff over time. I think that's important, but I do think we need a level playing field with "deadeners" just as we need a level playing filed with it comes to RMS ratings in amps, sensitivity in speakers and so on.

Let me ask you one last questions... If the material was as flimsy as you are picturing it to be do you imagine that I would increase a full dB of SPL output in a system with 10kw applied in my vehicle ?

It literally strengthened my roof - so much that it raised the resonant frequency of my vehicle 3 Hz.

A heavier but still floppy panel would have a lower frequency akin to a loudspeaker with a soft suspension and high moving mass - which is what most SPL guys that use dampener mat on a vehicle experience.

That is real data - not just saying that my panel doesn't rattle any more.

But the best I can do for you is share my experience. You already bought a product and used it and you are happy with it - that is great.

You need to start hangin' out with Bigbang, you guys would be such great palls. Of course, my dream is that you'd both deaden each other so no one has to read this type of crap anymore. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

SS might work better, I don't think you can say that BXT would not do the same or very close unless you ripped out all your deadener and replaced it with BXT then did the measurements again right? I'm just saying what Foxpro5 said about BXT not being an alternative is ridiculous, its a good product that works well. If you want the best get SS or Dynamat Xtreme, if you want to stop the vibrations and rattling and spend less get BXT.

So why don't you try to dispute my results instead of making stupid comments like that which don't help anyone?

im not trying to argue data and all that.

if i need an amp, i have heard the reviews, votes have been tallied, and ill stand behind Sundown all day. Not riding dick, its simply superior IMO. damplifier is also superior. no doubt about it.

i simply cannot afford damp or damp pro for how much i need.

I would recommend Raammat based on my single experience in using it on my vehicle.

I have always heard good things about SS products, but never got the chance to use any yet.

Take a look at the debate prior to this post and I'm sure after it, theres some good information there that can also help you make your decision.

Really can't go wrong with either, since both are proven products, just figure out which has more value in your eyes.

Foxpro5 can't handle the fact that RAAMat, a cheaper product, works well and can't say anything about the fact that it turned my doors sounding like a tin can to the quietness of my E320. It pisses me off when people claim they have scientific evidence but can't back anything up, and they are so full of it, its sad. How does your scientific evidence stack up against my actual results?

Aluminum is one of the lightest and most flexible metals, if it was the rigidity why use butyl? Just lay down some sheet metal on the flat areas with adhesive... wouldn't that be a lot cheaper and work better by what you are saying?
Constrained layer damping is a little bit complicated. It needs the visocoelastic material and the constraining layer to work. Fortunately, it has been studied extensively. Just Google Constrained layer damping to read more.

You did when you replied to the person that said "RAAMmat is great stuff. It does get a little messy but for the price, it CANNOT be beat. You will have PLENTY to use from one roll.". You posted that derogatory picture underneath his quote. It doesn't look good for your company, believe me, that's not the way to go. I think SS is a great product, but seeing posts like that make me, and others as they have posted, think twice about buying it. There's no need to defend your product or make derogatory statements (or post pics) every time someone says that a competitors product also works well. By doing this you are associating your company with those negative remarks.
Perhaps yhou should have followed through and read the link I listed in that reply.

It would have been obvious which part of the quoted phrase I was referring to. I have since put that part in bold:

RAAMmat is great stuff. It does get a little messy but for the price, it CANNOT be beat. You will have PLENTY to use from one roll

See, I was commenting on the bold part. The part that I just got done typing an entire page to explain. A reply that the poster of that phrase did not bother to read.

Raammat is a good product but the statement for the price, it CANNOT be beat. is absolutely ludacris. There is more than enough info on this forum, in this thread an in the link that I provided to prove that statement wrong.

I was not bashing raammat at all, but rather the poster that came in to the 21st centruy and tried telling everyone that the world was flat, right after we took him on a boat around the f'ing world.
