RAAMmat honest opinions and experiences.

I've never used second skin but I just laid down a roll of bxt last night in my blazer and I liked it..... Not hard to work with and did what I wanted it to do at a price I wanted to pay.

I wouldnt mind using some damp pro just to see what its like, either that or sludge for the floor if i run out maybe....Wouldnt sludge be a better product though then damp pro? Its heavier and im assuming it dries harder then damp pro would be...

So the areas that are non-resonant and benefit little from vibration damping. Fantastic.
The most difficult thing in the world of sound deadening is to break the mindset of the consumer. I love when members on forums post pictures of their deadening jobs and sometimes only get love when they've turned every last mm of surface into something Reynolds Wrap could use in a TV spot. I can think of at least two build logs on this forum where someone has done this...to the tune of 3-4 layers of CLD mat! Pics go up and then it's reply after reply of "OMG amazing work!!" Monkey see-monkey do; another "deadener" company goes cha-ching $$$, cha-ching $$$ all over you.

Imagine what can REALLY be achieved with vehicle noise control if people actually put their $$$ where it matters.
Agreed. So much deadener is wasted being placed in areas that do no need it whatsoever.

the ultimate sound deadening thread comes to mind.

In my opinion you should quit posting and let your product and your satisfied customers do the talking. It's very unprofessional for a product owner to come on here and bash other products.
Please show me where I have bashed my competitors product.

I do not beleive that I have bashed anyone.

I don't think you interpreted what I was saying correctly, this applies to the inside of doors, that makes a huge difference. If you have a spot where its hard to get into because of a tight space RAAMat is good also because you can push it down with your hand rather than a roller where it would be difficult. I agree you don't need it everywhere and some places will make a bigger difference than others. I think until you own a Vette, or a C4 for that matter, you'll understand that dampening just about any spot on the car will help with vibrations. Example with the doors again where the side meets the bottom, that corner (not flat) makes a big difference. My point though was about RAAMat being a good product and I would highly recommend it, my project made a night and day difference in my Vette.

You did when you replied to the person that said "RAAMmat is great stuff. It does get a little messy but for the price, it CANNOT be beat. You will have PLENTY to use from one roll.". You posted that derogatory picture underneath his quote. It doesn't look good for your company, believe me, that's not the way to go. I think SS is a great product, but seeing posts like that make me, and others as they have posted, think twice about buying it. There's no need to defend your product or make derogatory statements (or post pics) every time someone says that a competitors product also works well. By doing this you are associating your company with those negative remarks.

get a little bit of both and see what you like i mean everything is preference. First hand experience > then what someone says...
Exactly.... I ended up using 3 different brands of deadener in my install as I didn't know which one i liked the best and I found they all had their advantages and disadvantages.

Zing!

Glad someone finally said it.

And I have used RAAMmat in a friends car that I helped install, seems like a solid product, but was a little messy to use. For the money it is not bad, but I think there are others out there that can do just as good of a job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I personally dont think he has outright bashed anyone.

BUT, he has used other ways of explaining that clearly point at SS as the best product, in almost every single one of his posts. i have never actually heard a bad review of any SS product, so i think you should let reviews and products do the talking. Jacob Fuller dosnt get on here and bash us over the head with how great Sundown is. But his amps are still amazing and he still makes plenty of business.

Agreed. Other companies' products are going to work well. Theres no getting around that. SS may be the best, but you cant beat us on the head with that in every post.

How about we just say this: until Ant can provide objective data detailing exactly why and how Damplifier of Damplifier Pro (it really annoys me when people keep calling it "second skin") is the "best," it's only his opinion. He's obviously heavily vested in his opinion because he aims to have "the best" and when someone claims something is "better for the money" he cannot let that pass. I can understand this from his POV, but for him to make some of the comments he makes is no doubt out of line. This is because, as a vendor, he walks a very thin line on forums.

To Ant's defense, though...I've seen him recommend RAAMmat more than one time. RAAMmat BXT is an inferior product to Damplifier in more ways than one. It's only comperable to DP because both are shiny if you lay them out in the sun! Anyone who's used both will tell you this all day long - they don't need to be a materials scientist, either.

IMHO, RAAMmat BXT it's not even an alternative to Damp because the specs are not the same. A product with the same specs is an alternative....just like with anything: a car, a bike or a camera. And I don't know how many times Rudy or Ant or a guy with a arrogant, prick-like attitude such as yours truly has to say it, but MORE DEADENER FOR THE $$$ DOES NOT MAKE IT BETTER!

Also, anyone can say any deadener product works well, killed all their rattles, bla bla bla but that's not proof. I've never seen any damping performance data on RAAMmat BXT and I don't expect to ever see it. Rick isn't they type of guy to submit his product to testing; he's in the hobby to help others with a decent product that he knows well and can support - and he does a very good job at it. If you belive in this, support him with your investment...but making unsupported claims that BXT is the "best alternaive" to the "really expensive" stuff can get very annoying.

SS Damplifier is THE best dampener there is. I won't use anything else in my personal vehicle.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I remember when Ant started the company and I have *NEVER* seen or heard of his product failing under any circumstance, period. I've stuck it to a transmission casing and it didn't peel off after a year under my car (I'm serious).

See my log for some quantifiable results :

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=397628

I have gained around a full dB of SPL output by applying the product to my roof with only ONE LAYER. Some people dampen their whole vehicles with multiple layers and lose SPL output with other products. My theory... Damplifier has a SUPER thick aluminum foil and this really makes the difference. It doesn't just make the panel heavy - it makes it stronger. To get the same amount of foil in most products you will need 3 layers, if not more.

I have also installed Damplifier for SQ systems and it performs fantastically as you would expect.

Dampening is a ONE TIME job for a vehicle - you NEVER want to do it again. At least I know that I don't... so get the best product. Save some pennies if you need to - it's not THAT much more expensive. Also... as Ant explained... performance to $$$ spent is the best even if it is more expensive per ft^2
